    Before I read anyone
Before I read anyone else’s opinions and cloud my mind, he could go to a spread which would help the offensive line, which is why they normally use one and abandon the play action, which has no use when you have no running game, but can sometimes help to get rid of the freaking ball. I know this is not the offense he has in his plans for the future, but it would surely be better right now than predicating everything off of a run that is completely useless against top level front seven .

I always feel some apprehension when we get coaches that have "their" system and they proceed to gut the team to get the type of players that fit their system. I like the coaches that work with who they have and use the players in the system that suits their talents... all while they recruit players for their system.

The play actions should work even if we aren't running that ball much/well... eventually they will ignore the running back fake and that's when we hand the ball off to him. The play-action is still important, but I haven't seem it used too mcuh of it by Napier.

Just gotta throw this out there. The HBC was devoted, almost religiously, to the QB taking the snap under center. His routes were based on timing and 3,5 and 7 step drops. But after Bowden and his band of late hit assassins took the ‘96 game in Tallahassee, that damn guy installed the shotgun in 1 month and kicked there a$$#s in New Orleans for our first Nattie (yes, I was there)! Very few people understand how significant that was.

Hope Billy channels the HBC,but I’m sure happy I got to watch that guy work! HBC is an arrogant dude, but he ain’t dumb.

We have maybe what 1.5-2 complete games since he gas been here. USCe game last year was problem the most complete game he has had. Half the UT game this year was as complete as it could get and perhaps parts of Utah last year. Weve seen it, but there is just so much lack in consistency to know what is going to happen Saturday to Saturday.

He will get it, sooner (better) or later (less so) or he will be replaced around the 4th year, unless he somehow finds a magical connection to something.

Agree with a lot of that except for “very few people…”. I would say most all realize how significant going to the shotgun was and there have been a ton of posts about it in the past. Spurrier even talked about again today on his podcast.
Let’s hope we see some real scheme changes soon. I’m not betting any $ that we will though.

  10. Agree... Here's where I'm at: why haven't we learned our lesson that Florida Football is about throwing the ball, pushing it down the field and a quick strike offense?

Anyone who had been hire that puts emphasis on time of possession, defense to protect a small lead, and screens on the LOS, fail abysmally...

Yet we condemn ourselves to the same mistakes by not learning from our history.

We need to have brutal practices during the entire year... weed out the softies in the process.
