Thoughts on Kayla DiCello, not that anyone has asked my opinion :):

It looks like a long reach for Kayla DiCello to make Team USA for Paris 24. JMHO, she will be behind Simone Biles, Shilese Jones, Trinity Thomas, Leanne Wong, Skye Blakely, Jocelyn Roberson for her vault specialty, and possibly Konnor McClain of LSU, Jordan Chiles of UCLA, and Jade Carey of Oregon State among a few others, see Sunisa Lee who has taken a year away from Auburn to train and provided she in good health which has been improving at last report. The Olympics will only allow 5 gymnasts per team rather than the 7 gymnasts who were allowed in Tokyo. I just don't see this happening for Kayla.

"For Paris, teams that qualify to compete at the Games will not be able to send additional athletes. Provided U.S. teams finish in the top three at this year’s world championships in Liverpool or among the nine best unqualified teams at next year’s worlds in Antwerp, they will have five gymnasts in Paris, all vying for team and individual gold."

I'd like to see Kayla return to UF in January to perform NCAA gymnastics while working alongside of Leanne and Trinity in elite training for her attempt at Paris 24. Kayla is a world-class gymnast, but Paris 24 is likely out of her reach with so much more competition than even Team USA for Worlds 23 where she is an alternate. It could be a win for her and a win for UF.

    More on Madelyn Dorbin Commitment:

Dr. Sam, PhD on X: "Madelyn Dorbin (⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️) will be a Gator Dorbin joins the @GatorsGym '25-'26 season. She scored a perfect 25 from @cgn_recruiting on FX! FX High: 9.85 2023 DP Nat Junior F FX 2023 GA State VT, UB, FX, & AA 2022 DP Nat Junior D UB & AA FX 2021 Nat Junior B FX https://t.co/SLDnADcLkU" / X (twitter.com)

Madelyn is the 8th rated of the 13 5-star gymnasts in the 25 class. I don't know when she visited UF.

    - College Gym News

Keeping count, Jocelyn Sasson at #5 & Madelyn Dorbin at #8 have committed to UF on the same day. It's possible UF could be in on a couple of more 5-star gymnasts in the 25 class too. CJR and staff are on fire.

Reading Tiger Droppings Gymnastics is funny. They hope for commitments while UF receives commitments. To be fair, LSU had 7 high quality gymnasts in for visits over the weekend, 3 stars with #2 Mackenzie Estep, #4 Nina Ballou, and #9 Sophia Diaz. The other four were highly rated 4-star recruits ranked #16 to #34 who any program would be glad to have.

    Madelyn Dorbin
    Points: 79

Why she’s a star: Sky-high tumbling, including an opening double layout, not only helped Dorbin reach five-star status but also earn a perfect point total on floor. Not only is Dorbin lineup-anchor ready on that event, but she projects as a solid contributor on both bars and beam as well.

Crazy drama at worlds, there was a warmups injury right before the competition and Leanne has had to step in.
Nailed vault, stayed upright with some bobbles on floor and had a fall in beam.

    Gold: USA
    Silver: Brazil
    Bronze: France

France earned its first medal since 1950 when they won a bronze medal by beating out China for 3rd place.

This is a video of Leanne's vault. It does not include her score, but it looks good to me. If you can find her scores that would be great. None of the sites I went to have the scores.

Leanne was not supposed to perform on vault today but did due to Joscelyn Roberson's ankle injury.

Dr. Sam, PhD on X: "Leanne Wong delivers on short notice. All for the team!" / X (twitter.com)

Leanne did a terrific job considering she didn't prepare for vault today.

Leanne must have fallen off the beam to receive an 11.700, the only score for her I can find as it was in a Simone Biles AP lovefest article.

It went something like roughly 14.1 on vault, 11.7 on beam and 13.1 on floor.

Did Leanne perform on bars? If not, who did?
Did Leanne perform on bars? If not, who did? Considering she didn't prepare for vault today, 14.1 is outstanding.

Leanne has done better on the floor, usually upper 13s.

I'm not accustomed to or knowledgeable in the World Championships format. Since I couldn't watch, I was not aware that only 3 gymnasts from each country could compete on the 4 events in the team finals. I was thinking 4 gymnasts per country in the Team Championships.

Bottom line is Leanne was only scheduled to perform on the beam which she did her worst on with what a writer described as a hard fall on the beam which may have affected her floor which came next:

Simone Biles leads U.S. women's team to seventh straight world gymnastics title (msn.com)

Leanne replaced Joscelyn Roberson on the vault and floor. Leanne's scores:

Vault: 14.066 performing a Yurchenko Double with a small step back.
Beam: 11.700 with a hard fall.
Floor: 13.166 - Leanne can and usually does much better.

Future Gator Skye Blakely scored a 14.166 on her bar's routine, her only event today. Skye's Achilles heel right now is floor.

Joscelyn Roberson was reportedly on crutches. If Joscelyn can't make a go of it in the individual championships, Leanne will likely move into her second slot in the vault for the US. Only 2 gymnasts per country compete in individual event finals. Leanne was third on the US team in qualifying for vault. The top 3 scores for the US from Sunday's qualifying on vault:

    Simone Biles 14.949
    Joscelyn Roberson 14.049
Leanne Wong 13.633 (did better today at 14.066 with no notice)

It would take a major catastrophe for Kayla DiCello to get the opportunity to perform. Come back to UF in January Kayla.

The least talked about member of Team USA, Joscelyn Roberson:

Starstruck by Jordyn Wieber, Joscelyn Roberson Chooses Arkansas as her College Home - College Gym News

She will be attending Arkansas after Paris 24 USA Team tryouts. Smart girl picking the SEC.

Joscelyn chose Arkansas over Michigan and Oklahoma, don't know if she ever visited UF. Piggie HC Jordyn Wieber was her favorite gymnast since she can remember plus Arkansas was the closest school to her hometown. Clearly, Arkansas is getting an outstanding gymnast, glad she did not choose OU.
