If we are a legit top 10 team, 8-4 is doable. 25 th team could go 6-6 with tgat schedule. And there will be some 10-2 teams teams next year tga wouldn’t be ranked with our schedule. Like tge tough scheduling.
That is all I am saying. It would buy him some time. If Callaway turns out to be amazing, CBN looks like a genius. If not, it shows willingness to address the problem and, as you said, look for OC in the off season.
Exactly, we didn’t belong on the same field as Ohio State right? Yeah, we had tougher games in the regular season. to me? That’s the reason the SEC wins as much as it does. We are battle tested
Totally would show willingness to take immediate steps Unfortunately, if he believes run game is suffering from missed assignments no changes are forthcoming
How realistic is it to expect every single play everybody executes perfectly? That is the issue I see with our current offense is there is very little room for error. When you consistently have to drive the field with 12+ plays to score then you have to pick up a bunch of 3rd downs and we haven't excelled at that yet.
I’m sure CBN really hates to talk post game after a shoddy performance; but it comes with the job and the salary. He doesn’t sound too much different than the Jaguars coach after Texans throttled them at home. Who knows, over a beer with his best friend, he may say his team doesn’t have as good talent, his coaches are under- performing, issues with certain players, etc. (things he simply can’t say in public) If I compare this to when I was working, I hated when I was in the early stages of a project and the Owners would come in and grille me incessantly. (before I had a chance to complete my task) Of course, they had the right to do so and I muddled through it. Billy was hired to rebuild the program and he is in some stage of doing so; whether we believe he is on track is up to speculation. Billy surely knows the routine and the ups and downs of his profession. What is disconcerting and 100% correctable are the mistakes, dumb penalties, terrible starts of games, low energy, and a seemingly lack of excitement to play these games week after week. In an SEC game, this should not happen. I think and hope he gets it turned around - the question is how long will it take. Gator fans are not necessarily inpatient, but we ain’t gonna wait forever!
I like your line of thought, but which of these teams are the Gators going to leapfrog in order to make the top ten? Georgia Michigan Bama Washington Texas Ohio St Fl St (ok maybe this one ) Penn St Oregon USC Notre Dame Oklahoma Oregon St Utah That's 14 teams that the Gators are nowhere near in terms of quality. Might add LSU and some others as well.
Miami's fan support and base has always been Tier 2, even when they were winning Nattys. FSU is what, ranked #5 this year? What does "only tough on paper" for next year mean anyway? And, due to the conference realignment, our SEC schedule is tougher. You are wrong about next year's schedule. It is historically brutal.
UF should call the Big10. The academic fit is there and they are looking for that Florida footprint. SEC treats UF like the red headed step child anyways. Kidding. Don't get your thong bunched.
Im not defending arguing realistic expectations, just sharing insight. FTR if we could produce turnovers on defense we would have shorter fields and 12+ play drives would be less. For all the griping about play calls we did pick up +18 yds and the run but K Jackson was called for a hold. It was good to downfield blocking by the WRs something lacking last year. They still arent outstanding yet
