We have to have explosive plays, cannot win consistently on dunks and dunks. Many of our pass plays have been fairly predictable thus heavy pressure. BN seems to prefer to have short manageable third down yardage. On top of that teams are selling out to stop the run. So with less conservative and predictable play calling, I believe our qb can take shots down the field. Yes, sometimes even then he will be pressured but right now we don’t really try. And to that, when we get behind by more than 2 scores, dinks and dunks will eat up clock as it has in the past. Bottom line I believe this is the preferred scheme of BN, ball control and TOP. Just my take.
You miss the point. A current staff coach being given the title is like being named hall monitor. They still have their original duties plus overseeing 6 phases of kicking game. if you understand how practice is scheduled the kickers, snappers holders, punters and returners all practices daily against/with each other. These are individual performers they have to execute when it is their time. When our punter shanks a kick you dont think he has been coached to get a consistent drop? We kick off out of bounds you think he isnt being coached after doing it correctly several times already in the game, he just put a bad swing on the kick. (Lets bench him) FG block and punt return are already coached by the defense. They are in charge of the substitutions and techniques. One would think with as much personnel as we have on the sideline we could scrounge up a headset and make them responsible for counting the subs when we get to 3rd down. Its not rocket science.
i dont know what many gators believe. i think, considering our 3 previous failed hires and the long x,14 year drought , (as a gambling man) the odds of success seem much better to me to let CBN finish what he started compared to shit-canning the whole thing and starting over. Considering all the positives CBN has done and the support he is getting from fans and admin, i still believe he will do whats necessary to fix scheme, staff etc . May take longer than anticipated but i think we will get there. But all our beliefs are conjecture at this point
You do realize 2-3 empty shots down field will invite more pressure next series, right? We need to RB screen the aggressive defenses and throw quick game inside the numbers. Also running the qb occasionally 2-3 times a game woukd provide a benifit
He’s not exactly allowed to kill them. They’re all idiots and sit down and listen and you’ll learn. It Has to be aggravating not being able to see what you really want to say.
Throwing a lot of long passes, makes it way too easy especially when you can’t protect your quarterback for the shorter route
My first response to you would be snarky, so I will just point out that CBN has a former OC on staff that could take over play calling. This would free up CBN and perhaps he could take over ST like Meyer did. Win-Win, at least for the rest of the season.
This is the part that is uncomfortable for many posters here. Time exposes weakness on staff. We can say that billy calling plays isnt working because of style. Two oline coaches appeared to work last year not so much this year. PT leading the defense last year corrected year 2. The special teams situation is a head scratcher but there are limited options in season. Spreading it around should be the easiest but apparently communication is a problem. Hell i’ll do it pro bono as a working interview. Just coaching up the game changer and position coaches.

This isnt sitting well with billy. He has a curated approach to everything, he recognizes this sets back the perception of measurable improvement. He doesn't strike me a publicly reactive individual but behind closed doors i will bet he is on the warpath. The off-season will tell the tale, mounting loses and announcements could be made before seasons end wrt to changes
Stricklin didn't hire Mike White who ran our program into a decline. He raised the floor but lowered the ceiling substantially. Golden is a yet to be determined commodity but the more savvy basketball posters seem to be excited about this year. Napier has been an injection of what this program needed....off the field. I'm not happy with the lack of adaptation of the offense and the overall product on the field but I don't believe he is sleeping well at the moment either. Time will tell if the necessary changes will be made but the guy has to have time to succeed or fail. AA was a great start. Kentucky was more the players than the scheme. I think stricklin screwed the pooch on a few things but these two are yet to be determined.

How do you impart the flavor of that coach given the restrictions on non coach interactions under NCAA rules/regulations. Stricklin will be judged by the Napier hire, no matter how unfair that sounds. Look up major program ADs fired over the past 20 years. Unless it was for cause (eg: what happened at Penn State with Sandusky), they all have something in common- consecutive failed football hires.
