I haven't had time to listen yet but reading through the posts expected about what I've seen so far. Some would have found their "huge red flags" no matter what he said or did or how he acted.
I’ll be curious if BN shows some success next year if the contract sticks as is. I’m thinking they probably ride it to the end and evaluate the last year of his contract.
Truth is every year from this point is going to be tough. Remove Miami insert bama, remove Texas add Oklahoma and so on
There will NOT be a coaching change at Florida this year despite what some hyperbolic "fans" post over and over.
Wish there was a 100% emoji! Hopefully he isn't stubborn and makes the necessary staff changes to take FL back to being competitive and winning.
Not calling for one. Just saying it doesn’t hurt to be prepared. We suffered multiple failed HC hires because the person in charge was not prepared. That is all. Heck for all we know Billy could pull a Mike White on us.
Some sure, but some of the media guys that have been and likely still are supportive have also voiced their opinions that this was somewhat of a disappointing presser. That's from somewhat objective staff and board moderators from a couple of web sites. Not the cesspool hyper emotional Gator chatter but various Gator media sites. I've always been somewhat of a pessimist in life but I've been an optimist on Napier for a number of reasons. I'm still more optimistic that he will do whatever it takes to right the ship but this has been a disappointing weekend no matter how you slice it. Lose to Kentucky? OK. The comedy of errors and apathy that was the first quarter after we already had one of those to start the season? Wasn't ready for that. Deflecting to a good first half at home against Tennessee just rubs people the wrong way. I say this respectfully and you know I haven't been nor am I now one of the ones carrying a pitchfork like some here.
Well then its a good thing I am used to losing. This Gator program has been aweful for a long time.... So sad this program is where it is today!!!!
Again, I haven't listened yet . . . but believe the point was that the same kids playing in the same systems worked fine for UcheaT and everyone was happy as clams and penciling-in 6-1 going into the LegHumper game. Instead, the kids had a bad game on the road and here comes the same type venom we saw after Utah, on steroids. It was even predicted by most. The "noise" would come right back if Florida lost to Kentucky. As if they (and, yes, the trolls) were just waiting . . . I appreciate your views and your posts, including this one. You are not one of the ones to whom I refer. A single game against a middle-of-the-pack to potentially upper SEC East team should not make rational fans decide they have seen enough. Saban's team with 5*s across the board had, what, 2 bad games in-a-row this year and he's in his 10th, 11th, 12th season there? It happens. The season plays out one week at a time and . . . for those less experienced . . . a very young team can produce a very roller coaster season.
One media report on the pc: Florida's Billy Napier to remain play-caller amid sluggish start, says offense is 'always being evaluated'
Nor should there be. UF hired Napier to rebuild, and invested a lot of money in it. It won't happen over night, but Gator "fans" are what they are. Wah, wah, wah. And Napier is doing a lot of things right to build that future. But of course the bitching won't stop, particularly since next year's schedule is absolutely BRUTAL. But I'm sure all the complainers have already figured out who the next "savior" will be. Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha. Was that enough ha ha? Probably not.
To not see any red flags at this point means you're wearing rose tinted glasses. There's been no consistency, no improvement, and no fire from the staff or the players to fix these glaring issues. UF is the school of "Tebow's promise." Who's stepping up to keep that promise now?
While certainly not as condescending (smartest man in the room) as Mullen, I am concerned that CBN is becoming similarly defensive and putting focus on execution issues vs scheme. Sharp contrast to Meyer in 2005 when he was open about making major schematic changes mid-season. That said, I do think we beat Vandy convincingly and then the coaches/team circle the wagons on the “can’t win on the road issue” and get the W at SCe. Finally, this UGA team has issues….crazy things can happen in Jax.
Outside of a really good 24, I don’t see any way they do any sort contract fluffing until after 25. I don’t care what Jimmy Sexton says about coaches always needing 5yrs in their back pocket.
There's nothing he could have said that would have made everybody happy. I'm much more interested in how the team responds the next two weeks. That said, I don't think the questions he was asked were unfair.
I’m not happy with the inconsistency that we are seeing and I posted my thoughts in the post Kentucky game thread. I’m still pulling for CBN and hope he can rebuild the Gator Football program and show some consistent improvement. I really don’t have a problem with any of CBN’s answers. I’m actually happy with the questions he was asked. They are legit questions that fans are asking. Thumbs up to the reporters. CBN got a little defensive, but I’m okay with that. Do we really expect him to break down and offer a full on confessional?! Not gonna happen. On a very real and positive note… At least CBN didn’t ask the reporters if they knew what a midline was.
