Yeah, that's not the context of the quote I posted. He was responding to the question "what are the signs you are seeing that you guys are heading in the right direction?" His response was "I'm on the inside. I know our staff and our players. We are getting better at our process. We play good football at times. Some of these questions...y'all weren't asking a few weeks ago." UTk was not brought up by the person asking the question.
I honestly think if Mertz went off script and threw a touchdown pass Napier would admonish him for going against the analytics. He isn’t suited to this.
I think it would be catastrophic but if BN can keep recruits, and is willing to make lots of key changes, including dipping well into the portal, then I'd be happy with a third year. Again, at some point we have to stop the coaching roulette.
Short of losing every game here on out and looking ugly in the process I agree. I really want Billy to ride out this storm. Winning the next two would go along way toward soothing the waters.
Zook hire never made sense -- guy was demoted earlier on Spurriers staff. Muschamp was a stubborn Buffoon, great defense and refused to let the offense go to others. McElwain was the ultimate clown and never should have been representing this university Mullen quit, and thought he was the smartest person in the room, when clearly he wasn't Napier talks to people has if we all ignorant kindergarten students. He mentions things and we are exact opposite -- no discipline and stupid penalties, turnovers, very slow running a play vs starting fast, 3rd down every single set of downs, predictable play calling, running on 3rd and long 10 times. Kentucky scored 16 points in the first quarter --- we only scored 14 the entire game. In one quarter they out scored us for the entire game. McNease game doesn't count- this team has played only 1 good half of football in 4 games. That's eye opening. If you cant' score touchdowns against Charlotte, no way in hell the same scheme will work against Kentucky -
My views are changing also. I have felt this is only year two, but I am not hearing what I want to hear. More same ol", same ol' BOVINE EXCREMENT! Billy lost me in this presser. I think he has better players than last year. The problem is with the coaching. I'm tired of hearing, "we have to do a better job of coaching." I am starting to think, we are probably going to have the same situation in year five and be told, "Let's be patient until next year!!!
My personal feelings about this offense is that it’s a Muschamp 2.0. Ball control and TOP. We all know how that ended. Now if BN hires an OC that mirrors his scheme to placate fans that isn’t going to cut it. Gator football to be honest is effective highlight passing using speed and great passing schemes. Our best years we’re throwing the ball, Spurrier, Meyer, Mullen. To hang on this run, dink dunk passing game imo will eventually run off top receivers. Right now it’s short passes and hope the wr or rbs can break tackles and it’s not working. BN needs to let go of his ego and hire a top pass heavy OC.
I hear you. Its not happening and there is a strong commitment to get of the firing coaches carousel we are on. He will be allowed to see it through.
2024 schedule is brutal: Home - Miami, Kentucky, Lsu, Ole Miss, Texas A&M Georgia - Jax Away - Miss St, Tenn, Texas, f$u
The commitment to get off the firing coaches carrousel cannot supercede the commitment to winning. If it becomes obvious that Napier isn’t the one, changes will need to take place.
