We should cut Congress' salary to the national average per year. And cut off their access to insider trading. If there's no money in it you might have people actual go into public service with the heart of a servant.

Who the hell would to that job for less than 200k? I don’t think you can get a decent one bedroom in the area for less than 3500 and you have dual living expenses.

Actually, if you want to minimize corruption you want them to have high salaries. But crack down hard on outside money. All of it: whether that is PAC money, campaign money, gifts from “friends”, or their ability to trade stocks.

The reason a lot of 3rd world countries have corrupt police, for example, is that they don’t pay them crap. They make more money from shaking people down or taking bribes. We see some of that here too (think the old Waldo, FL police department which was basically a traffic racket).

Funny how the snowflakes of MAGA nation can be triggered by a cartoon.

what exactly is “MAGA” nation? Are those people who want to live in a great country? is that supposed to be derogatory in some manner? That seems to be a failure slogan from the commies.

I’m not triggered, I’m just pointing out that you’re misogynistic. You posted a cartoon of women which depicts them as gross looking compared to their actual appearance. You are making fun of these two women by using a distortion of their femininity. Shame on you.

I tend to agree with you here, though I've talked to smart people who disagree.

It's also interesting how we compensate different offices. Our City Council members, for example, make about $25K if I recall. I guess it's not considered a full time job, but there's a lot to study, people to help, and votes to take. It really limits the number of people who are able to do the job and devote enough attention to it unless they're rich or retired or can figure out a way to monetize their position. I think our County Commissioners make about $80K, which seems pretty reasonable to me to attract good people who can support a family in this area. (I'm setting aside the controversial retirement packages). Our County administrator makes about 190K from what I can tell. That seems like the other end of the spectrum to me, particularly given the relatively affordable cost of living here. That's significantly more than the Governor makes.

It's a cartoon. If you think it's inappropriate for political cartoons to use distorted images I suggest that you look at the humor thread and the cartoons with unflattering images of Joe Biden or for that matter a number of liberal politicians. It was not intended as serious political commentary and whether or not you consider the cartoon misogynistic it does illustrate that both Boebert and MTG are clowns not to be taken seriously and yes MAGA nation is easily triggered. As examples there was the meme of Kathy Griffin holding the severed head of Trump and while admittedly in bad taste the right pretty much destroyed her career over it although she did make a small comeback a few later her career was never the same; there was the 2017 version of Julius Caesar in which the assassinated Caesar was a Trump-like character and while the right was really triggered over the play I would note that the left was not triggered over a previous version of the play in which the Caesar character was loosely based on Barack Obama; and let's not forget the single Instagram post of Dylan Mulvaney drinking a Bud Light that triggered a boycott of the product.

Uproar over Trump-themed 'Julius Caesar,' but none for Obama version at Guthrie 5 years ago

You think that this is misogynistic? Just asking.

Wrong and right out of the blocks, too.

@Contra Hey, bacon boy. Before leaving your trail of breakfast foods, you might want to look up what "slander" actually means. It will help avoid embarrassment.

Trumpaloons have zero, nada not a smidge of knowledge about the law, the economy and markets but that doesn’t stop them from proudly flaunting it.

So you’re using the old tried and true “but everyone is doing it” defense of your conduct.

As long as you feel better about yourself, that’s all that matters, right?

Once again it's was a cartoon. Political cartoons much more often than not present unflattering images of their subjects. I guess by your standards political cartoons should present realistic and/or flattering images of their subjects.

I guess we can agree to disagree. Apparently you're offended by cartoons that use unflattering images of their subjects; on the other hand, I have no problem with the use of unflattering and/or exaggerated caricatures of politicians or other public figures in cartoons if their purpose is to make a point.

it’s OK to make fun of the appearance of white men. Everyone knows that. But you’re not allowed to make fun of women, people of all colors, gay people, Eskimos, men who dress as women, one legged Gypsies, women with 3+ cats, fat people, children who come in last place, blind barbers and their clients, or anyone with three nipples.

As a society, we have to have a certain amount of decorum.
