Please raise your hand if you were predicting the Gators to be 4-1 or 5-0 by game 5. 4-2 going into SC is where I figured with Utah and KY our losses. Still more than half the season to play. I know the 2 losses were ugly and look like a step back which is why all the frustration. I get it. The ST mistakes can’t continue and the D has to help the O with getting more than 1 TO through 5 games. Still lots of season left and you never know how things play out. Napes is not going anywhere this year (nor should he) with a loaded 2024 recruiting class and so many young guys playing this year. Would I like to see him hire an OC and a ST coach??? YES!!! This could be the sword his coaching career at UF dies on but it won’t be this year unless we win only 1 more this year (Vandy) and the recruiting class falls apart.
I haven’t wanted to open GC for dealing with those who are jumping off cliffs. This post however was refreshing and honest. I agree on all accounts.
The on the road issues are concerning though. Maybe’s it’s just youth, but it was an issue last year. Home seems to provide the intensity but it seems to not be there on the road. They also seem to come out flat after the half. Is the locker room ho hum? Some of the small glimpses we get of BN speeches are a little snooze worthy IMO. Again, we may not be getting the real stuff, but it makes you wonder. I appreciate the positivity though OP. I hope they beat Vandy cause I hate to see this place if they don’t.
Best case scenario as I see it. We have 4 road games including UGaG. We lose 3 of those. We have 3 home games, win 2 of those. That my friends is 6-6.
May not be the problem. But is a problem. As much as thinking beating KY should be automatic, or that Florida should be a perrenial NC contender. We got a long way to go.
I agree but again it’s college football. Injuries, suspensions, only one #3 on ST and #27 doesn’t take a Lambo Leap, anything can happen. 6-6 is likely but stranger things have happened.
I’ve mentioned the locker room pep talk before, as well. Billy seems too much like a self-help speaker leading them onto the field. It’s almost like he’s leading a group of young men to a Promise Keepers symposium. Leave the room …and have Spikes cussing and slapping helmets to get the boys fired up.
I had us at four and two. Charlotte and McNeese were gimmes No idea or I thought at least we will give Kentucky game
Yeah because there’s correlation with cussing, slapping helmets and winning. SMH. I’m sure the majority of HC’s do cuss and slap helmets but there are a lot of sucky teams. No correlation whatsoever. If you have two HC’s who cuss and slap before the game, there is a loser, correct? Did loser HC cuss less and slap softer? Lol. Plenty of head coaches are intelligent enough to get their message across without slapping helmets and cussing. I prefer the Napes, Tim Tebow and Tony Dungy approach.
Jayzess…You’re probably taking this a little too literally, little fella. But yeah, maybe if the message before hitting the field is a little more ‘kill …and take no prisoners!’ …it might achieve more.
I don’t believe cursing is a requirement, but there are some pretty intense locker room speeches from Tebow out there. You can be intense without cursing. Again we don’t get a full picture of BN’s speeches, but from what I’ve seen I wouldn’t call them intense or inspiring, but that’s just me.
While I seriously doubt he used profanity, I could see a big, strong, very passionate Tebow slapping helmets and shoulder pads in the locker room. Tim was very fiery...
Ok but if both coaches yell kill and take no prisoners, one loses. Why did the coach who lost lose? Lol. Just playing man. Go Gators!!!
Oh I agree a long ways to go...but no game is a lock at this point not even Vandy....thats what happened last year when we played them...the coaching staff has yet to provide they can consistently get the team ready each and every game.
Let’s hope they are just young and need to learn how to get up for a road game. Cmon coach, rile these fools up next time.
