Careful. People are going to bring up a game in which we had an absurd amount of injuries and no offense to say we didn't have a good defense....
Yes, the schemes do matter... And I never said it was easy. If we stack that box they don't get nearly the rushing yardage they got with the defense we played most of the game. Maybe we still don't shut them down, but I doubt we give up that many rushing yards either.
The others just got worse the longer they were here. This past game didn’t look like a team with their head in the game. I think Napier still has it all in front of him but he better wake up and smell some coffee.
You won’t know what could be if you fire the coach. I’m not as optimistic as I was but we still have to let it play out.
I am not a BN sunshine pumper and agree that he needs to evolve or end up being like Muschamp. And while I agree we have talent, the talent is relatively young. So you can't make comparisons by teams solely by so-called talent ratings. We have a lot of guys who have never played together. The key is to see how those guys improve this year. Do they play better individually and as a team? Can we get back some of our best players fully healthy (WR, center)? As much as the KY game made me sick for a lot of the reasons that have already been said, I am trying to be patient and see how the staff and the players react to where they sit. Let's face it, the team has really only played one great half in four games. That has to change.
At this point if SS thinks about a contract extension for BN he (SS) needs to be fired with cause! Certainly things may change.
I think the staff has done an excellent job recruiting defensive lineman. Not quite so much with offensive lineman. I think the transfer portal has been so so as compared to FSU. But given the way UF played the first half, we could have had 5, 5 stars on the front and coming out flat like that, KY would still have whipped us.
The wheels fell off our last three guys though. He has made progress every year. Napier is at a crossroads right now. He still has time to get it together but he better be learning quick.
