I don’t think Billy lives in constant fear of being fired for cause. What McYellowHorseTeeth did was pretty extreme.

If anything he seems way too convinced that the process will work in the end and is unfazed by just how bad our film looks at the moment. It’s one thing to be confident, and another one to be inflexible and incapable of self reflexion.

We see plenty of coaches turning programs around and not looking incompetent in the process.

 

If Billy really believes in his process he should take a paycut similar to Harbaugh. Put up or shutup.

Not really. If one has major life events that affect their outlook, including age, the death of a loved one, infirmity, or any number of things, it can change a perspective. We all love college football in general, and the Gators in particular, but I can assure you, when I am drawing my last breath in a hospice, my last words will probably not be "Go Gators!"

 

Sure, events such as that can change your perspective, but they can never erase your experience or understanding of such things.

He is not so much counseling persective as he seems more to be pretending that the whole concept is foreign to him.

 

This idea that Napier is content with these results is absurd. No need to vilify a guy that by all accounts is a genuine and hard working guy who isn't doing a job solely for money. Why do people need to do that? Does it make them feel better talking trash?

I mean the more pressing concern is that his method isn't working nor will it work. I'm not saying that's the case but there is more evidence at this time that it is than not. Muachamp was similar. People vilified that guy when it was obvious he gave his all but just couldn't get out of his own way. Napier doesn't exude anything close to the quitters that Mac and Mullen were.

End result isn't good either way but the nefarious theories about a guy counting his money and kicking back are just dumb.

 

Not out of the ordinary, just odd to me. It’s like people arguing and getting emotional about politics. It’s weird. I’ve been through enough crap in my life to not let the stuff I can’t control ruin my day. That’s just how I look at things and that is just my opinion. I GNFs if others don’t agree.

Napier doesn't live in fear. Stricklin gave such a stupid contract because logic says that two things happened:

1. Huge buyout translates to a long tenure, thus Stricklin doesn't have to worry about hiring/firing coaches because $32 million frightens people.

2. Stricklin bought into some nonsense that programs need YEARS/DECADE to turn around, and Billy Hotseat was just the coach to agree with that sentiment.

 

Move TE coach to special teams. TE work with WR/oline coaches. That can happen today. Take the “game changer” off field analyst (or whatever he is) that is in charge of special teams and make him responsible for player personnel on the field. Can he count to 11? Great he has the job.
I’m off season lose 1 oline coach. Hire an OC with an explosive offense. Example. Steve Spurrier jr at Tulsa has done decent.

Im not saying fire BN. I think his recruiting is outstanding. I think he has too much on his plate and thinks he is smarter than he is.
Examples - 2 oline coaches. Every major successful coaching staff has 1 oline coach and 1 OC. I wonder why? Because it works maybe? But BN wanted to do something different. It’s not working.
We are stil a stupid young team. Our best players are sophomores and freshmen. It’s going to take time.
I am willing to give BN that time IF we see change and improvement. I like the DC far better than the last several and think he will do a great job. I love our recruiting. I hate the lack of passion from BN. I hate the lackadaisical attention to detail. BN needs to be the CEO and that’s it.

 

One of the best jobs in D1 sports over the last decade is ex-Florida Gator football coach. They've been paid very well for going away. Napier has nothing to fear. Fire him, he still makes millions, just like the 3 before him.

 

That’s why he probably gets 2 to 3 more years. It may slowly improve, it may get horribly worse. Hard to know if you are quick on the draw. I personally don’t see a championship caliber coach, but he could be stable enough for 8+ season Ws. I know that’s not what most would want, but I’d be okay with a Richt type stable situation. I’d prefer that over starting over and hoping it a good choice.

 

I gotta disagree, not saying he needs to go right now but if you think his ceiling is 8 or so a season we have the wrong guy. It’s Florida and 8 wins is not the yearly goal, yes it’s acceptable during this rebuild after Mullen but not on a go forward basis for 7 million a year.
