As your opinion is yours. But we had allegedly poor coaching staffs in the past and weren't that bad unless we had multiple injuries, including our first couple of quarterbacks. I mean, Zook was supposed to be the worst coach going down to Pop Warner level, at least in the view of a very prominent poster on the pay board, and he lost only one game to a losing team in three years, which got him fired...

This game seemed very reminiscent of the 2004 Miss State game.

But, yes, Zook was much better.

Ok i agree with most of this, however i believe that fraud Mac was the worst coach for the Gators not Zook, as far as Napier goes the problem is that the UF job its way over his head type job, he isnt a SEC quality coach and needs to go back to a Louisiana type of a school.

This situation reminds me more of Doug Dickey's last two years, before Charley came in and burned down the barn to get rid of the rats. As for worst coach, well, hindsight is 20/20. As for Zook, I never thought he was a horrible head coach. He had the misfortune of following a Gator legend who was arguably our greatest head coach ever, and the fans expected little to no drop off after SOS left. IOW, they were spoiled by the massive success of Spurrier.

I agree with Spurrier as the best HC at UF, I also believe that if Dan Mullen wasnt as hard headed as he was at UF and had hired a top DC and recruiter coordinator along a couple other assistants changes he would still be the Gators HC.

If UF plays like they did against UK, Vandy has at least a 50% chance of beating us. I think we'll play better at home, but...

  7. Revisiting this thread: The first four weeks did not change my W/L prediction, but the Kentucky game did change my outlook on the season. It is not that the Gators lost, but the way the coaching staff and the players do not seem to get up for road games. Furthermore, other teams seem to bring their A-games when they play the Gators. One more bad outing and I will jump off the “but Napier is a good CEO and recruiter” bus. I realized yesterday that even Stoops has adapted to the new transfer portal better than Napier. Also their strength and conditioning program seems to be better than Florida’s. Maybe Kentucky’s strength program is best in the league, or maybe Florida’s program is much worse than theirs. I am still posting while drinking so I will end the rambling here.

I mean, what's more shocking at this point:

    - playing a pretty good game (let alone a great one)
    - underachieving

We have far more examples of underachieving than anything else under the current staff.

The Vandy game will be interesting. Vandy scored 28 points against UK. But they also gave up 45. If the Gators win and look good doing it then that might set UF up for 2-3 more wins for ceiling of 6, maybe 7 wins. But the Vandy game is absolutely the time to open up the offense, quicken the pace, maybe call an audible or two, go vertical, anything please. Plodding along on offense to pad your TOP credentials allows inferior teams to hang around, especially when you can't convert on key 3rd downs or don't score TD's. Then it doesn't take much offense for the opposing team to keep up and they have a chance to surprise you at the end. Give our offense some confidence. Improved offensive performance is what will be needed for this team to get more wins down the road. If UF loses to Vandy and it's possible, then geez, do we even win another one?

Hopefully against Vandy we can be at least equal on the los, if not that’s scared. They held their own with Tennessee but they were hyped. I sat right behind the bench for tgat game and tge former players along with the crowd got those boys riled up. They looked like they just woke up from a nap against Kentucky. I think that’s a product of inexperience by the players and staff. They have to learn how to get up for a road game and and hype themselves against a road crowd.

We will see the exact same offense and play calling. Billy believes if all 11 players execute properly then the play will work. Problem is we are a slow chew up the clock offense and the chances of executing properly for 12+plays each drive is small. We have little to no room for error in this system.

5-7 which is better than 4-8. I had us at 2-3 by now, 3-3 heading into the booze bowl.

I simply don't buy this. The "every team plays us like it's their Super Bowl" is long past. Since 2010, we won 57% of our SEC games. Compare to Georgia, who won 78% of their SEC games, and LSU won 69% of their SEC games. Texas A&M won 55% of their games since joining the SEC in a tougher division. It is a fan's enduring delusion that everyone plays their A+ game against us.

To be fair, that is also the administration's responsibility. I can't blame Billy alone for this.

    LOL!! It's all good...

I hate to laugh at this, but we have a ways to go if we put 13 players on the field and still give up a TD...

    Gator in Tennessee
There is 1 more football win in there (Arkansas or Vandy).

    Total record will be 4-8

Napier will be fired in November.

Don't agree with the extra win, but agree that he will be fired.

Can't say I disagree with this but Napier may get another year. After watching the last 2 weeks and seeing how overrated UT is I think the Vandy game is 50/50. With the exception of Arky (again 50/50), I'm having trouble seeing another win down the road especially considering the number of road games.

3 more wins and he is keeping his job. Only way BN gets fired is if the recruiting class falls apart. It’s literally the only positive thing he has done since getting the job.

Zook was much better and much more invested. Made himself someone we all wanted to root for.
