Well, we didn't quit but are we seeing steady improvement? Last weeks game wasn't great and this game was much like Utahs game. I guess we won the TOP, they didn't pass well but mainly their qb was erratic. Are issues being corrected? On a different note, watched a bit of Auburn game that really took it to uga. Auburn with first year coach is looking good. Auburn too was void of players, but amazing how one coach, no wait, even Prime time has made Colorado look respectable. Outside of Oregon beatdown, Colorado looks better coached.
I think you are right tommyvee. He is recruiting studs on defense and a lot of speed, but we need to win or take games like yesterday’s to the wire to keep recruiting at a high level. I’m on board with CBN but, I wouldn’t mind seeing a little more passion on the sideline and the field. I kinda miss those days when mistakes and sloppy play was followed by a visor flying through the air.
Okay, let me try. A positive is that he is playing young players who at least on paper are invested in his way of thinking. The only issue is whether they can win at this level this year. Not likely and so the veterans need to be the majority of the play. It is what it is. Another positive, at least to me, is that Napier looked pissed at his press conference. I am guessing his "the system works" mantra is getting worked inside. It works...when you get the coaches' and players' attention. Methinks his foot is going to get DAMN SORE from getting shoved up everyone's butts for the remaining season.
-Scoring streak still alive -LED lights -A lot of younger guys playing which will hopefully pay dividends one day -Did I mention LED lights?
Positives... We are in purgatory. There is a chance some day we may get out and go up rather than down. I'm sure that LSU fans aren't totally happy with Kelly. Obviously to date he has a better record and result than Napier, but would anyone here have been ok with it if we hired Kelly instead of CBN? IMO, he won't get to the promised land with LSU so his hire in the long run would have left us no better off than we are now. I'm all in on letting CBN finish out his 4 years (barring some major collapse). Being all in means i would rather stick with him and hope for the best instead of recycling coaches one more time.. Being all in doesn't mean that i'm sure he will succeed and at the end of 4 years we will be a major force in the SEC. At this point, i'm not sure of anything regarding our future, but i do know we have to support this now and hope for the best.
I’m all in on giving Billy 4 years as long as we show we are headed in the right direction. We can’t look like the back end of a mule for 4 years and all of a sudden magically transform into the program that “the process” promises. There have to be barometers and checkpoints along the way that tell us we either continue or we need to make a decision.
Billy needs to make coaching changes in bulk during the off season. If he’s still calling plays in ‘24 I think we’ll see much of the same results. If ‘24 doesn’t show massive improvements then the noise will be deafening.
I'm with you on the all in for 4 years due to the incredible youth of this team. However, I'm seeing a constant of not enough players on the field, too many players on the field, more than one player on the field with the same number. That's not youth, that's somebody who's in charge of something that's not doing his/their job repetitively. That's worrisome and it looks Zookish.
I can see 4 years, but as soon as the FSU game ends, SS needs to ask, "so you're going to hire an OC right"? If the answer is no, then the next thing said should be "well, it's been nice knowing you, but....".
Positives: Field looks good New lights are cool Less noon games at home NIL looks stronger Better beer selection at the Swamp
Mertz has better stats than expected Wide receivers mostly look good Etienne and Montrell still good Not giving up much passing yards Scoring streak still alive
But no way he can do that without another recruiting cycle and good business in the transfer portal. UF is just not there yet personnel wise.
