Well an already thin roster appears to have gotten thinner. First day of classes and the official roster no longer lists Myka Perry. I honestly do not get the roster management of this program? Twelve scholarship players if you include former walk-on Clausen. Remember, women's basketball is permitted 15. Fair enough, but given the lack of depth in the front court this is highly puzzling. 2023-24 Women's Basketball Roster - Florida Gators
You seem to be jumping to the conclusion that the staff has run Myka Perry off. I highly doubt that's the case, because she had entered the regular rotation in the 2nd half of last season and would be a key piece in the upcoming season. Maybe she thought she deserved a starting role, who knows? Or missed her home and family. And besides all that, she's a guard, not a frontcourt player.
I made no such conclusion regarding the staff and Perry. She was in fact an integral part of the rotation later in the season and undoubtedly would have played a significant role this season. It would make no sense to run her off. But since information on the team is held tighter than The Manhattan Project during the '40s who really knows what's going on? My point was that a short roster just got shorter. God help us if we lose anyone in the front court. You are given 15 scholarships a season. Use more than 11-12 to guard against unexpected defections and the seemingly annual ACL tear. And maybe balance the roster a bit in the process.
I was told she left due to seeing lack of rotation time and being home sick. But I am not so in touch with the womens team as I used to be. So this is just inuendo right now, I was hoping we would get a few more Post players and I figured 1 or 2 guards would leave. I would rather see us at 13...but I am a bit confused by the roster management myself.
Complete conjecture but I'm sure the minutes for the taller guards that returned were going to diminish when Laila came on board...plus Leilani came back. I still am very confident in our guards. I am also still very concerned about any post game whatsoever. I thought we'd see a lot of 5 guard lineups and press a lot because we will be smaller, but fast. This does hurt a little there. I agree 100%... I do not ever like being under 13... prefer 15.
Just saw that Paige Claussen is now on scholarship. Gators Women's Basketball on Instagram: "It doesn’t get any better than this☀️ #GoGators | #TheLifestyle"
Kylie Kitts has committed to us, big get..have heard rumors about her sister may be looking to transfer..maybe she will end up at UF also.
Wow! Big get! It seems very hard to get reliable info on women’s basketball recruits. Do you know where she is ranked?
as high as in the 30s, but she is reclassifying so I am not sure they know where to put her right now.
https://amp.thestate.com/sports/col...a/usc-womens-basketball/article274961201.html Chloe Kitts - I don’t see any rumors of a transfer
there have been rumblings through some summer stuff, playing time if she gets more of it in Columbia may help that?. I am just glad to get the younger sister for now. I would rather get another true post instead anyways. My bestfriends daughter plays for Currys team out of Charlotte, so get to a few tourneys over the summer
Now get 3 more (1 F/P, 1 W, 1 SG).... preferably 2 frosh and the other a transfer. Love the guards this year but to really go to another level we need some size. Kylee is a very nice first piece to that puzzle. It's hard to say for sure with covid and injury years but I think we lose 3 for sure this season of the 11 main players. That would put us at around 13 with a couple of ships to play with.
BigI... you hear anything on how we feel for Lester or Iwuchukwu? That's two I'd love to see close out the class.
Correct, they both were, it was someone else from that roster as well can't remember who, as far as talent that was probably the most talent the WBB program had. For 2-3 seasons straight.
Hard to believe best Lady Gator basketball recruiting happened in the 1997 to 1999 time period. Milton and Page were great Gators and great WNBA players as well.
First-Round WNBA Draft Pick, Rhyne Howard Joins Florida's Coaching Staff - Florida Gators Big Deal…….
Always wished Rhyne had come to play at UF. Her name being on staff should really help in recruiting. Not sure about the new rules, but I think you can have 5 assistants, but only 3 can recruit off campus. Not sure if we consider Dan an assistant, but I think we do so assuming he and Rhyne are the two who can only recruit on campus.
