I’m really getting sick of seeing posts about how “it took Stoops seven years.” Seven years to do what? Be a conference also-ran? Hope for a top-20 finish to call the season a rousing success? Win some toilet bowl nobody remembers? Norvell at FSU started in a season upheaved by Covid that you can’t really count. The next year was bad, but that was his first full one and he still almost beat us, and the year after he won 10 games. Spurrier never won fewer than 9 games in his twelve seasons here. Meyer won 9 his first and a natty his second. Show me a coach that’s won a national championship where their team has looked like this in his second season and maybe I’ll change my mind, but those examples are just not out there. People like to point to Dabo Swinney for some reason, only he won nine games his first full season, and while he only won six his second, he’s notched no fewer than ten every season since, so he only had one subpar year out of fifteen or so.

Coaches are what they are. You don’t have to wait four years to find out.

He wasn't undercut... he tried to jump through, at least from where I saw it.

1. I don't every recall a punt being blocked by someone jumping up with a defender in their face...
2. The rule is for the safety of the jumper as they tend to get injured a lot (per the broadcast team).
3. He should have been coached to never do it.

So really, it was just a poor play all around. It should have never happened. Our ST is horrible....

I'm just proud of making my first post-game post without cussing....

That poster would be me. My point is that if we have a coach who is recruiting very well, I'm willing to be more patient because a change in coaching can result in a change in results very fast if the talent is there.

I am also saying that I don't think this is the place for incompetent offense because of our history.

I'm not saying we need to fire the coach. Rather change the perspective.

 

I missed it, but others here said he jumped straight up into the air and got undercut/blocked.

It quite possibly is, but I think one thing is certain. Scott Stricklin is a poor evaluator of coaching talent.

That base camp bullshit has had 4 lives over 13 seasons to put up or shut up. The goal is always to win now. Winning is a gratification that should not be delayed.
