Oh just as with term limits and random forensic audits; I’m not getting my hopes up.

I don't think age is quite right. Somehow cognitive function should be tested.

I agree, but there are too many competing interests for that to happen. Partisanship is just one of them.

The lack of testing cognitive function or age retirement mandates is probably as bipartisan an issue that you'll find...among politicians :D

No, it doesn’t. Sorry. There are senior citizens, many of them loved ones, who need to have their driving privileges taken away for their own safety as well as those of others, and their “wishes” don’t factor into the equation.

There is already a congnitive function test, its called the election. There do need to be more incentives to retire than hang on as people age, but the incentives not to are largely a creation of the political system, hard ball politics and the nature of the Senate and its powers.

Feinstein, McConnell, Biden, Trump. Hmmm, perhaps there should be a cognitive function test for the voters.

America has a terrible political system, maybe we should be like normal countries and vote for parties who pick their own leaders internally

Age is just the fairest way of doing this. You must retire from public service before reaching your 80th birthday, regardless of where you are your term, how important you are to your party, or how virile you think you are.

That isn't what we have, you very much vote for a person in a primary or general election, not a party no matter what anyone says. That a party may try to put their thumb on the scale or signal their preference doesn't make it the other way around, they wouldn't have to do that if they picked their candidates!

    Try a different analogy.

I would much rather have term limits on House and Senate members. 18 years in any combination of congress... House or Senate.
