My Mom was a Coal Miner’s Daughter, born in Cleaton, Muhlenberg County, Kentucky. Should have posted this already but I’ve hit the add in “edit”.’’’ my Mom watched some TV but not a lot. The one thing Mom always watched on TV every year is the Kentucky Derby! And when the Band would start playing “My Old Kentucky Home” the tears would start coming down on her face.

I never hear Paradise/Muhlenberg County by John Prine without the beauty of the land and the memories of the people coming to mind. I've lived all around the upper South as an adult and there are few places more beautiful in the wild than Appalachia/Piedmont.
One winter it snowed so much that Kentucky closed. That’s right, every interstate in and out of Kentucky was closed, while states farther north were still open.
I happened to be in Lexington for work the weekend of Weurffels coming out and Doerings catch. I thought I’d won the lottery sitting with all those cat fans. I remember it well…I love Ky…
