It's almost unfair to include DC when comparing states since it's a city. Though I understand why it's done and I do it. But DC doesn't even crack the worst 50 cities by poverty rate in the US
That's the easy way out. The fact is, there are many fine and conscientious folks trying to faithfully serve their constituents and the country. I will grant you, however, that the country is in bad shape when 70% of republicans prefer Trump, the quintessential crook, as their presidential candidate.
I somewhat disagree. Not a fan of absolutes however i see it Similar to what George carlin said about conspiracies. They aren't needed because the system is set up to take advantage as interests converge. Play the game or get kicked out. Having been involved in local elections processes and inner workings of city and county departments, there is a lot of personal gain and corruption at local levels. It's depressing.
Or King Benny in Israel. Must be convenient to change the judicial system to cover if not facilitate corruption.
I do agree that people are often at the mercy of their handlers, eg parties won’t support you unless you do X, and without party support, you likely can’t be elected, and without being elected, you can’t do good. I would also add to this that I agree with Lord Acton’s dictum that absolute power corrupts absolutely. Still, while politicians are humans with all their flaws, they are also humans with all their beauties. Why do people come to work? To pay bills maybe, but bills can paid in many ways. A politician has a shot at helping. They also have a shot of taking bribes or bossing people around, but many people that want to do good would be attracted to such a platform. Maybe I’m naive though.
My bad. Just 70 percent of one side. Which he’s polling close to 50 right now. But no need to worry too much about actual numbers
I gave your post a come on man because I don't believe you're stupid, but rather are being deliberately obtuse.
More on Sarah: The attorney who uncovered "Lectern Gate," has found more irregularities. There are a series of $1400 expenditures to a company that doesn't exist at an a non-existent address. Also, there was a $54,000+ political consulting expenditure to a mom & pop diner. The owners of the diner, predictably, don't know anything about the charge.
