Truth be told, we need attrition to sign this next class and maybe some key portal guts. We simply need some guys to leave....and from what I can see Kamari isn't one of our top 4 safeties (Mitchell, Castell, Moten ,Thornton)
It's happening faster then anyone expected but rise up or move on. It's a good thing for the program.
I was thinking the same thing. We have 21 committed and are still actively recruiting several players committed to other programs (a few surprises that visited this weekend) ... plus we're still after LJ, Mincey, Favour and Seaton. We need some attrition.
This is one of the (many) situations in which NIL deals for recruits/commits looks very, very dumb. I assume he got a sweet one two years ago when he was one of the gems of the class. Now can't make the roster? Geez...
I've gone through the roster a few times and struggle to figure out who will leave so we can sign 25. 7 seniors. 4-5 juniors/so that could declare for the NFL. 4-5 jr/soph that are buried on the depth chart. Most of the roster is young and still developing. It will be another wild portal season.
Actually Kamari knows who the boss is but didn't have his coach call him out. CBN way is better than Dion's way. Dion's way is to make Dion look good. CBN's way is to demand excellence to play but protect the player. That is the way the great recruiters and national champion winning coaches do it. Dion just wants the headline to look good for Dion.
Napier said what he said though and in the end it means the same thing. I definitely like Napiers approach much better as it comes off as much more professional.
It sounds cold to just say it out loud, but there really is no way around it - not with a '24 class standing at 21 HS commits already, with another 3 or 4 likely. I only counted 9 seniors. overall, including several who literally never play and may not be on 'ships, anway. Personally, I'm not sure if the coming "purge" is the final act of the great covid-year embroglio or just a sign of things to come. But whatever it is, it's pretty clear that some number of non-sr. players will be exiting the program to make room for more talented prospects before NSD... Chalk it up to the survival of the fittest in the age of NIL.
We are probably going to lose some juniors to the draft. Who are Florida-Gators-players who could be picked-in-2024-NFL-Draft?
Thanks for the info, but if any of those five mentioned in that article declares as a junior, they may be in for an unpleasant surprise when the draft rolls around. JMHO.
“Guts” …… interior linemen? BTW, there is a new term for “purging” college football players…… its called “ getting Deion Sandered”.
Probably, but I'll bet 7 out of the 8 players mentioned end up declaring. It's just how it is nowadays. I don't think George will get enough positive feedback to make the jump.
...or "transfer" out, which is the only likely alternative for most of those guys under almost any circumstances.
Which is why I think if a player declares and doesn't like his draft, he should be able to come back to school. (Assuming the school didn't fill his scholarship with someone else).
