I love his #4, he gives away the game.

He thinks putting a disclaimer absolves him from intentional fraud. That’s not denying the charges, that’s describing how he thought he could get away with it.

Like… I guess we can all just go get loans for oceanfront properties now. $10 million. $20 million. Who cares. Go ahead and lie on the supporting documents about your financial situation, if you just stamp “do not rely on this information” and the bank still gives money you’re all good. :emoji_joy::emoji_joy:

What lawyer has his back on this? It’s just amazing lol.

My impression is that Trump's defense regarding using different valuations for the same property is that "everybody does it". I also got the impression that since none of the banks which loaned money to the Donald based on the inflated values of his properties didn't suffer any loses it's basically a case of no harm, no foul, no fraud. Paraphrasing the 35-page opinion from the court in a one sentence, "sorry Donald that's b*ll sh*t"".

I can think of one “lawyer” here who thinks this is a fantastic idea.

If they were overvalued he paid more taxes. All the banks and lenders did their own due diligence on the financing. All operational loans and business loans were paid back. There were no defaults or banking interests adversely impacted. There are no victims of what the State calls “fraud,” yet the judge is ruling the Trump organization must dissolve all business interests in the state and exit within 10 days.

Most of the American public sees this for what it is... government targeting. The targeting is making Trump more popular. These AG's aren't smart enough to boil water.

Ah.. the dreaded “targeting”. You can’t convict someone of no crime so if he is squeaky clean what is the worry? If someone showed up on my doorstep to accuse me of a crime I wouldn’t worry one bit.

Overvalued them to get more favorable terms on loans which is still fraud even if the bank didn't catch it. Undervalued them when it suited him to pay less taxes which defrauds the state and other taxpayers.

He also actually DID default on Deutche Bank loans. There was some shenanigans where he got one of their divisions to loan him money to help him refinance the larger RE loan. But it was all based on lies. Didn’t the banker involved in that get in some legal hot water himself? Maybe I’m confusing that with someone else.

edit: I think this article covers the Deutsch Bank situation.

How Donald Trump got his Deutsche Bank loans

VA, thank you for the post. I have come to the conclusion that thug Donald only has one rule.

That rule is, do what I say and want whenever I say it. THAT is the ultimate truth for him.

    Laws, morals, traditions be damned.
He is the ultimate 2 year old in a 77 year old brain and body.

The banks did suffer harm. They gave lower rates which decreased their income and he did default on some loans with DB.

Such a poor persecuted victim. From the moment the first gold spoon cleared his lips the poor man has been persecuted. You should contribute more to his legal defense fund.

That will work just as well as putting a sign on your car that says, "Really bad driver, drive near me at your own risk." when you take out a minivan full of girl scouts.

So, he is now found to be:

    a charity-cheater,
    A sexual abuser, and
    A fraudster.

    All by three separate courts.

He is currently charged with committing serious felons in four separate cases, one involving defalcations pertaining to national security, and another for mis-using his office and lying to people — exactly like you — in order to disrupt and overturn the democratic process.

At what point does someone like you think that maybe Trump is not the angelical angel you have been mislead to believe he is?!?!

This is not a man with simple flaws that make him human. He has been found liable for lying, manipulating, sexually abusing, and defrauding charities and banks alike.

What does it take to see this Emperor has no clothes?!?!

I haven't been following this, but I think Michael Cohen's claim at least was that they had different sets of books/numbers depending upon who was asking for a valuation so they got a benefit both ways.

Good point. The narrative was based on the fact that Trump didn't default on any of the loans and they didn't have to sell the properties used as collateral to secure the debt.

This is from a 2016 column by the late Charles Krauthammer, a conservative columnist and former Fox News commentator although if he were alive today Krauthammer most likely would have been fired by Fox and excommunicated by the right as a RINO or even worse (in their eyes) a "lib". By the way Krauthammer is a board certified psychiatrist.

This is beyond narcissism. I used to think Trump was an 11-year-old, an undeveloped schoolyard bully. I was off by about 10 years. His needs are more primitive, an infantile hunger for approval and praise, a craving that can never be satisfied. He lives in a cocoon of solipsism where the world outside himself has value - indeed exists - only insofar as it sustains and inflates him.

Most politicians seek approval. But Trump lives for the adoration. He doesn't even try to hide it, boasting incessantly about his crowds, his standing ovations, his TV ratings, his poll numbers, his primary victories. The latter are most prized because they offer empirical evidence of how loved and admired he is.
