Critical that Kingsley stays healthy this season. Center is critical in a zone blocking scheme. Look at our run effectiveness when he plays vs doesn't play. Also, still amazed at how quickly AA has put together a solid defense. Pay that man.
I have the utmost confidence in BN the CEO. Armstrong has done a fantastic job, the recruiting is where it needs to be in order to contend for titles. But, and it's a big but, I would be lying if I said I have confidence in his offense's ability to utilize those assets to their utmost potential. I could be wrong, certainly wouldn't be the first time.

CBN played totally different last year re: 4th downs. I think (obviously none of us know for sure) it was because he had a dual threat QB AND he had a D that could not make a stop. I also believe that what we are seeing now is not what we will see going forward. I suspect each off-season (hopefully he's around for many years) he will upgrade processes, schemes, and coaches if necessary.

Totally agree. Tge offense is a product of our players. Hopefully we have more to work with going forward. AR could buy time and was really hard to sack and his passing was more downfield. Film has shown that Mertz can definitely make those throws but it doesn’t seem our line can give the time necessary.
I don't think the receivers were any less open under Franks than they were for Trask. Trask was just much better at understanding the right guy to throw to and threading the needle to hit them precisely where they were going to be.
I wouldn't take anything from McNeese or Charlotte on tendencies and deficiencies in play calling because with the game guaranteed CBN would likely play against his desired tendencies to skew scouting of his play calling. He would be that conservative and secretive.

Sure, or maybe he felt they were up for the task to fill the role till the new guys got back from injury and he was wrong. I mean how many times on this board over the last 3 coaching regimes has it been said we'd rather play the young incoming talented freshman guys, get them some experience and take our lumps in the process vs. Play guys because of seniority regardless if they are the more talented player. We are finally actually seeing that so it surprises me that a lot of posters expect there not to be any lumps now that we are doing it, and in larger numbers of true freshman than I would have guessed.... and i dig it. These cats were up for the challenge and are showing out even with the slight learning curve and acclimation period. Makes me excited for the next class who may be even more talented, especially that LB core.
I’m with you. EW3 looked lost out there sometimes running routes and some want him to have full command of the option route tree. I’m liking that these young guys are getting significant minutes and contributing however they can.

I respectfully disagree with the first statement. That 2018 offense, in Mullen’s first year, was way better than anything Mac or Chump put out there from the years prior. In reality, Franks had a pretty good year, especially considering the season prior. He was 24 & 6 (TD/INT) for 2700ish yards and we had 4 wr with 25+ catches on the year. It’s just unfortunate that there were 5 or 6 plays/mistakes he made, that many remember as defining his time here.
People forget how hopeless our offense was prior to Mullen. We had offenses ranked in the nineties and hundreds. It was basically the offensive counterpart to what Grantham did to our defense. There was a stunning statistic going around back then how we had more 200 plus yard passing games under Mullen in his first year or two than we had the prior 7 years under Champ and Mac. The turn around was almost immediate. Now receivers certainly seemed more open when Trask played but I think it was agreed that was the difference in processing reads and ball placement between the two QBs.
