Mertz is good at short passes. When we are in the red zone less room to throw those short passes. So you try to run. But getting too fancy might hurt. Just look at Clemson. A drive lay would have been better.
As a Gator, i dont find it comical. i also think the use of 'terrified' is a bit over the top. Maybe you agree with me that our scheme is fine but play calling in some instances is hard to understand. Overall i'm surprised in a good way by our performance to date. I understand it's best to wait until the season is over to analyse the coaching progress i'm hoping we show up and win in KY. A win will go a long way to affirming the path we are on.
im with you. It leaves very little margin for error. It’s like every single thing has to go right every play for us to move the ball. Not many plays seem to allow our athletes to show how athletic they are. Not much room for YAC in the passing game
I remember one such throw into the endzone and the ball was beautifully thrown, hit Zanders right in the hands..... and he dropped it.
Guess we know why he doesn’t like OC’s wonder whose O was good and whose bad with all the change orders
We have big/tall receivers. They should try to throw it to those guys in the end zone more. I think Jackson and Boardingham caught one of those jump ball type of passes in the end zone this season.
No, I don't like his scheme. That doesn't mean it's bad or that it can't work or any other conclusion people will jump to, it just means I don't like it. I've said it before in another thread, I am a Bears fan as well, and I get to see the east west passing on Sunday too. It is slowly sapping the fandom life out of me watching and rooting for 2 teams that play so conservatively. The entire reason I'm a Gator fan to start with was Spurrier's Fun 'n Gun was the best thing on TV on Saturdays when I was growing up.
I agree yet Mertz has to be on his feet for longer mire creative plays to work. I think our coaches are aware.
