My post simply addressed the difference between the utter failure of the previous HC to do what had to be done and the simple fact that BN seemingly took effective, appropriate action that ended in a very positive sea-change. Parsing someone else's phrasing in a post I agree with wasn't germane to that point. The nuances separating "encouraged to find another job" and "shown the door, fired on the spot or marooned on a desert island" are of little or no interest to me. I do, of course subscribe to the "do your damn job" principle which is just one of several reasons to be glad DM found himself blurting stupid crap on TV instead of being a HC in the P5. But I digress...And since I'm not involved in the staff evaluation process, I'm going to refrain from making judgements on things I can't confirm. But I think BN deserves credit for recognizing and "correcting" a "mistake," which is not necessarily a common attribute in these days and times.

On top of that, the only reason you are still bringing it up is to shit on the coach and try to take anything good that’s happened on his watch away from him. Sure the defense is great, but it wouldn’t be if Billy had his way. That was basically your post in the other thread. Anything good is just a lucky bounce for us. Anything bad is a 100% coaching failure. If you spend your whole life looking for things to be miserable about, you’re probably going to be miserable.
Austin Armstrong was here within a week of Toney leaving, so there could have been talks between CBN and AA before Toney "decided" to leave. We'll never know
Shane Mathews answer your question on his podcast, and I would consider his opinion to be as close to Spurrier’s as we are going to get. To paraphrase: with a good offensive line Napier’s play calls are okay (more on that later), but with an underperforming line the ball needs to come out with a shorter drop. Adding in the IAKOW podcast to Mathews’ podcast: irrespective of the QB drop depth, the receivers need to maintain more separation to give the QB more targets to throw at in a shorter passing window. After 17 games with Napier calling plays we see the same thing: he can script the first few plays rather well but does not adjust well. He can choose to share play calling with Rob Sale, Russ Calloway, or Billy Gonzalez without hiring external but he chooses not to. I cannot think of any sports analysts or podcasters who have not mentioned the need for a dedicated OC.
This is a forum. Of course we all act like board members. We the fake board members have watched quite a few coaches get undone by their stubborn behavior, and many of us want Napier to succeed. We believe in his plan but we also see that he is no Spurrier—he has not shown anywhere that he can call parts and manage the head coaching aspects to the game outside of the initial series of scripted plays. We the fake board of directors and just about every Gator podcaster seem to agree that Napier needs a dedicated OC. What does it tell us when he has three play callers on his current staff (Sale, Callaway, and Gonzales) but he does not share play calling with them?
It looks that way but we don’t know much. For example, do we kno whether or not the coaches you listed have a powwow and come up with the game plan together. No we don’t.
It’s pretty damn important. It would show that Napier can tactfully cut ties with his buddies for the betterment of our football program. Something Mullen couldn’t do until it was too late, amongst other things. It still remains to be seen if he can make the right decisions regarding an OC/playcaller and a ST coach. Here’s hoping the answer is also yes.
As a fan, this would be exactly the scenario we hope happened. Know your deficiencies. Have a replacement plan in place. Make the tough move and be decisive about it. That what you want out of your head coach.
It remains to be seen if it’s needed. Personnel dictscts playcalling it did last year and this year also. You call what can be executed and I believe we are limited. Sabans o looks very limited. Is it the oc, maybe. Looks to me like Milroe can’t play qb at a high level and tho lose kids can’t block. They could come up with some gimmicky scheme to exploit bad teams but it won’t work on a legit defense like Georgia more than likely. If you ain’t first your last. I’m not waiting on 9-3, I want to see something that can erase those three losses and it’ll take better players along with some play calls but mostly players.
We're in Year 2, the man is 3-1, with the only loss coming on the road to the reigning Pac12 champ without your standout center and, oh by the way, with no running game to speak of, this "deficient" Offensive Coordinator dialed up plays that got us 346 yards of offense, 333 from passing, but only 11 points. That's football: make your opponent one dimensional. We have great RBs . . . but if the O-line is getting manhandled . . . ces't la vie, man. I suggest you check your premise and that of all these podcasters with instant opinions. Again, IMHO, it's a fools errand to tell this man how to do his job. Knock yourself out, of course, but you're walking down the wrong street. With some good luck, we win at Kentucky and will be 4-1. Let this massive rebuild have our total support. Be patient with this man because he's objectively doing a great job. Many, many of our opponents are leading our Bitch and Moan Brigade because they are desperately afraid of the monster this guy is building. Just look at what is being complained about now: a *dominating* 22-7 victory with five of five on field goals but impotence in the Red Zone. Relatively speaking, that's a good problem to have. Still, we shall see if our O-line improves on these numbers against Kentucky. Go Gators
6-1 in Jax would be impressive. It's a possibility. I really like this team. they like each other and are going to improve. Having our starting 5 on the Oline for the next few games would be a beautiful thing. Everything else seems to be falling in place.
