Pre-Game Discussion: #22 FLORIDA at Kentucky

Their schedule has been:
Ball State
Akron
Eastern Kentucky
Vandy

We have to eventually win an away game convincingly. (Or just win) Why not this coming weekend? The Gators have something to prove. The Staff did an excellent job with Tenn. Some kids have been rested up. Why not Kentucky?

We will see how this post does over time. I think the Kentucky defense is elite. Also, Stoops has had many great seasons at Kentucky. You have no idea how bad it was when he took over. For us to even be competitive much less beat Florida is a damn miracle worker in my eyes.

Leary will have to play well Saturday and I think he will. I do question our offensive line. It is up to Coen to put us in good positions and we do have play makers unlike years past.

The great thing is we will see how it all shakes out in a few days.

 

Tennessee game was the only game our Oline was fully healthy. I hope Kingsley was held out this week as a precaution and he's ready to go Saturday, line looks different with him at C.

Hopefully Wilson is back as well, because it was obvious that first drive against UT Napier was using him. Once he's an integral part of the run and pass game, teams have to respect the fakes and him moving in motion. Just one more thing for the defense to react to.

 

We are going to give up the chunk play if the guy can hit the receiver, it’s just how we play. Mertz is probably going to have to throw a lot.

 

So this game is worth 2 wins? Interesting....

 

On point #2, neither should UGA, but then I'm a Gator and hate all things Georgia.

 

We have the better team. Who has UK played ? If we play well and don't shoot ourselves in the foot we'll win.

 

It should be glaringly apparent by now to any defensive coordinator out there that all you have to do to shut down Florida’s offense is to stop the run, shut down that one dimension and the rest will take care of itself.

 

Ugly stat. Only one way out and it starts this weekend. Actually feel pretty good about this game.

 

Need to overcome our road fever

So, what do you expect from the UF offense vs the UK defense?

 

I do not know if UK has the defensive backfield to sell out to stop the run. Having Wilson back would help... a lot. It seems like this year it is the defense that will set the tone for the games. If the defense can put the brakes on an inconsistent UK offense, then, I think, CBN will let the offense put the ball in the air and go win the game. If the defense is allowing UK to move the ball and score (neither of these offenses are going to just light up the scoreboard), then I think we try to limit risk on offense, which limits chunk plays, and I think we lose a tight one.

 

Hope the o line can open up holes for ETN et al. Go Gators!

 

The cats aren’t near as dumb as TinnerC. Their D will be loaded up to stop the run. Full on run blitz could be affective against our, cough, passing game.
Looking forward to seeing what our game plan is.

 

Since 2018, Florida is just 2-3 against Kentucky.
This should be enough to make any Gator fan puke.

 

I hope we beat ‘em like they owe us money.
