Comments like this coming from you and Coop are the VERY reason why I have significantly reduced my replies on this site. Your loss.
I'm not going to count the number of articles... not sure it's even relevant. What I can say is that other coaches have received a lot of positive news coverage and it doesn't get everyone in hating frenzy. I personally think a lot of these head coaches are fake, hypocritical, and exploitative of their players (fine with themselves making millions and leaving for better jobs but upset about NIL and student transfers), but I'm not out here making threads to hate on them. I suppose if we were consistent with our dislike, I wouldn't see an issue, but I don't see what is so bad about Deion that causes this much angst to people.
It’s not hard. The one(s) that keep pushing this stupid nonsense are the one(s) trying to drag their Too Hot BS over here. After 9 years of roasting Harbaugh, Jimbo & even Meyer …plus the dozens upon dozens of people calling Kiffin an immature douche bag, after having marginal success …and not nary a word from this/these bonehead(s). But poor Prime is a victim??? It’s beyond ridiculous.
I would go with religion (like the Tebow hate) before I go with race. Here are my theories as to why some are hating on Deion. 1. Seminole/Falcon/Cowboy haters 2. Loudmouth me-first persona (true or not) 3. Unconventional approach to coaching
Many years ago, I had some personal business interactions with Mr. Sanders. My company was offering a service for his home in North Atlanta in the Seven Oaks subdivision. (Sanders was playing for the Falcons at the time and my company provided service for several sports professionals at the time.) Let's just say that Neon Deion was not too professional...
Deion showed up at Colorado and told the players to "hop in the portal". Seventy one of them did. Seventy one college kids, most of whom thought they could count on the scholarship they had been given. Yet you carry on about other coaches who are "hypocritical" and "exploitive" of their players Does Deion sound like a head coach who is exploitive of his players to you? It sure does to me. Does Deion sound like a head coach who cares about his players? It doesn't to me. Deion only cares only about Deion, and his actions prove it.
He showed humility in his post game presser and gave props to Oregon and the Oregon coaches. Somehow that got missed on this board it seems...
I'll close out my watching of this thread with a sincere thanks to @murphree_hall but also @orangeblue_coop and others. I feel like I'm looking at this a little differently than before the conversation started. It's a reminder to myself: more than one thing can be true at a time.
I’m not sure that’s exactly what he said, but hey it’s actually better than stringing them along or making false promises. Let them go be great somewhere else. Most fans here would say winning is what matters most. Deion prioritized winning and implementing his system above all but it’s a problem that he did it? Come on.
Thanks man. I know you to be a very good poster here, so I’m glad we had this discussion and ended it in good terms. Can’t wait for basketball season to start!
You come on. You are the one who calls other coaches "exploitive" and "hypocritical". And the "hop in the portal" statement is exactly what the media reported that he said. But I tire of dealing with you a coop; it's a waste of time. I don't like Deion, and don't care what you think. That's enough for me
