There are definitely some concerns. I’m just in a wait and see mode. Will there be some off season changes? Will increased depth/talent at OL help? I don’t know, but I am tired of coaching changes.

CBN’s a very analytical guy, so I’m sure he knows where the issues are. Based on the trend, my assumption is teams are figuring out how to defend him as time goes on.

Billy’s offense does okay between the 20’s. Inside the 20’s he gets really tight, and the offense gets tight, imho. He just has trouble dialing up quality isolation plays, maybe he doesn’t have many of them, idk. How many TD passes have been caught while in the end zone? Not many that I recall.

I think it may be his coaching of Mertz not to throw up those jump or 50/50 or one-on-one balls. We don’t seem to be attempting many of those.

Napier’s strength is running the football and running is easier when the defense has to cover the whole open field. When you get into the red zone and the field is compressed, there is less space and more bodies to run through.

The fact we don't seem to even try and throw INTO the end zone makes thing even tighter down there.

I think a lot of what happened Saturday night was due to not having 3 OL starters.

Do we need an offensive coordinator. Or is Billy doing OK and hopefully growing each week

Could be worse. We could be Iowa. I think Navy has more receiving yards than Iowa so far this season.

That's a myth. He pretend to be an "analytical guy", but he's not. He's mediocre OC with below average "analytical" ability. He quote" analytics" but he doesn't know how to use it.

I’m not in the we need an OC camp right now. I think Billy can figure it out either by adjusting his tendencies or scheme and bringing in better talent.

I AM in the OC camp right now but for two simple reasons.
    1. BN should be focused on being the CEO. The OC should be focused on designing and running a potent offense. Both things take up a lot of time and energy. I want my HC to be the CEO and my OC to be hands on every faucet of the offense.
    2. I simply don’t like our offense. There is very little room for mistakes or poor performance. If we get down by 10 points I have no confidence the offense can over come that deficit. Bring in a young innovative OC and let’s ramp up the offense. It can still be run first. That’s fine. But let’s get some creative passing plays, let’s push the ball down field, let’s be multi dimensional. And let’s let the OC run the offense.
    Just my opinion.

I hear you, but Clemson did just that by bringing Garrett Riley from TCU. Their offense is currently ranked lower than last year’s offense in scoring (58th 2023, 24th 2022) and in total yards.

RZ percentages might not matter so much if we did not need to be there in order to score.

Our inability to stretch the field is a problem for us everywhere on the field.

I thought we did that fine this game considering all the new starters on the right side of the OL. I think Mertz unwillingness to throw it unless dude is wide open may be the reason. I’m sure that was the knock on him at Wisconsin so we are coaching him up. He may need to sling it near the goal line though.

Not really venom. Just some serious concerns on how we can improve.
