Those 2 fumbles cost us and if we turn the field goals Into TDs it's a 42-7 game. The bright spot is we scored on 6 times, just have to change the type of score.
Offensive line was bad, other than that it was typical Billy ball . Running clock , grind out drives. Problem was they were 1/9 on 3rd down .
We have some dudes on defense and it’s the best group we have had under Stoops. Our offensive line however, is the second worse in Stoops time here. We have shown some flashes of very good play and some WTH is going on moments as well. Looking forward to it!
Defense was solid for the most part and continues to be the strength of the team. Thankfully Ky doesn't have a running QB. Special teams looked good except for a couple of ill timed penalties. Got a fg kicker. Punting was solid also. Offense had a solid first drive and Pearsall made a catch for the ages late on. After that we played not to lose. Just don't turn the ball over and we have a good shot next week.
You know Dooley is chomping at the bit to say “Nobody suffers a win like the Gators”, but then he will critique things. This game was UGLY. Glad we won. We have a lot of work to do for Kentucky. I hope they practice their asses off - we have to turn this corner and beat them.
The last 5-7 years or so has not been an easy out vs UK. They definitely are not the UK of old days. I'm just trying to speak some reality to some posters who seem to ignore certain facts. We really don't know how good UK is this year vs the last couple years because their schedule amd their play (so far) hasn't helped them prove that point.
I remember when the OC seat was a revolving door, but the offense year-after-year looked exactly the same. Some coaches just don't have that inherent ability to draw up plays. Situational playcalling. Playing scared. We probably need to lose the lead and see if this team has the ability to score quick and catch up playing from behind
It's not only that, I don't think he's good at designing a passing game. I'm sure he would call more downfield plays if anyone could actually get open.
