The Service errors I get, but the majority of the attack errors can be attributed to poor sets and the attackers having to adjust mid-air to balls behind or too low. Hopefully Muff can learn from this and improve quickly.
I saw a ton of well set balls just being hit out on fairly easy kills by Martin and Victoria especially. Can't have that.
I tried to wrap my head around why the Gators had so many service and attack errors last night and all I can think of was not that they were still stunned over losing Stuckey but they were trying too hard to "step up" with Stuckey out. That goes for both attacks and serves. I get that and in the long run if it is that it is a good sign. Too many balls hit too hard trying to do too much is correctable. That shows a team with heart and determination. My guess going forward is that they need to relax a bit and let the game come to them a bit more. Losing a great player is a setback but there still is a lot of talent and the season is long. I thought that AC Fitzpatrick "stepped up" without trying too hard. Do we name a Gator of The Game? If we do she gets my vote.
Georgia comes into Gainesville with a 9-3 record. In order, they beat UConn and Western Carolina 3-0, lost to FSU 3-0, beat West Florida 3-0, lost to TCU 3-0, beat Coastal Carolina 3-1, beat Jacksonville, Army and Samford 3-0, beat Georgia Tech 3-1, lost to San Diego 3-1, then beat Howard last Sunday 3-1. Not a blockbuster schedule, for sure, but the win over GA Tech is impressive.
This match might tell if UF has turned the corner on attendance. If we can follow up the 10,000 seats for Wisconsin with a good 5,000 seats for Georgia, that will mean a lot.

Tennessee just beat Kentucky convincingly on ESPN 3-0 with scores of 25-23, 25-18, 25-18. The Vols are now 11-1, 2-0 in the SEC, with their only loss being 2-3 to Wisconsin. We don't play them until November 3, so hopefully we'll be rolling by then. Kentucky is only 3-7, 1-1 in the SEC. They've played a tough schedule, but their only wins are over Northern Colorado, Houston and LSU. Losses are to Colorado State, Pitt (2 matches), Purdue, Louisville, Nebraska & Tennessee.
This MB addition from Ohio makes it two 6'3" MBs in the last 3 weeks, this one for 2024 and the first from Mississippi/Texas during the first week of the month for 2025. DeAndrea McMillian | SportsRecruits McMillian is listed as an MB/OH. Both players are highly rated. Hope both come in at 6'4" or taller. Does anyone have a running list of UF commitments or can name a site that keeps track of the committed recruits that does not require payment, see College Gym News? That would be helpful. Thanks.
Great 1st set comback by the Gators to take the first set 25-22. Only hitting .200 and with Martin at .200, Fitzpatrick .125 and Victoria at .167, the y still found a way to pull it out, helped by 5 service aces. Keep it going Gators!!
Dead even match after 2 sets. Georgia hitting .203, UF .200. Side outs at 53.2%/ Fitzpatrick having a bad game so far, hitting only .071. Georgia has Fischer and Haugen hitting over .400, so the Gators have to slow them down. Muff with 17 assists. Exciting to watch.
Sophie Fischer dominating the match for Georgia. They are simply outplaying us. 102 attacks and 45 kills to our 89 attacks and 34 kills. 54 assists to our 31. We're serving better that last match by a long shot and and outblocking them, but have to slow down their offense more, while picking up our own.
6 kills for Muff. Gators had a 13-9 lead and Martin hit 2 straight easy kills out of bounds and then A.C. did the same thing. Attack errors are killers.
