Could be something as simple as he was "promised" playing time IF he earned it, and there's a difference of opinion on whether or not it's been earned. A lot of the backups think they're better than the guys in front of them.
If he has told the staff he won't play to preserve a RS, why is he still dressed and part of the team? I found it strange that he wasn't starting week 1, but I also heard pods discussing the depth chart and he was always 4th or 5th guy mentioned in the safety room which surprised me. I guess the access those guys had was enough for them to see the clear difference. Hate to see it, but play the best guys and if guys leave, so be it.
Below was in a si.com article about kamari published in Mar 2023 "Although an undisclosed injury has forced him to wear a no-contact jersey throughout spring camp, Raymond has been impressed by Wilson's contagious energy and praised him for practicing "at another level" of hard thus far. Where the Fort Pierce, Fla. native and former consensus five-star prospect can continue to advance is within the leadership position he has been awarded." Could be there was / is something going on unrelated to him leaving.
Here's what 247 analysts had to say about him as a recruit. Maybe he could play safety under Toney's defensive scheme but with Armstrong using "creepers" & simulated pressure maybe someone who is faster is a better fit. I wonder if he should try linebacker?
Our safety play has been pretty solid. Kid probably needs another year and would be ready to start next season if he sticks around (FWIW Jordan as a true freshman looks better than Kamari ever has). Side note I hate when long ass posts don’t have punctuation.
I think with his lack of top end speed and hips, he needs to move to LB. Not sure he wants to mess with OLinemen, but I think that’s his future if he wants to play football at the next level.
While what you say may be true, this is one of those tough times when we want answers but they aren't yet forthcoming. To all of us: Let's not speculate about Kamari. Let's also please not post speculation from anyone outside the program . . . especially about "promises not kept." Often they're right but just as often they have their own agendas. I don't know about that 7-on-7 coach but I do know about Coach Napier.
Sorry, thought that post was vague enough and the source a bit questionable (especially with Kamari celebrating during the UT game) to be rumor spreading.
No problem. It's usually fine but this is a little different and we want to protect the kids and the coaches first. You're a great Gator and a great part of Gator Country! Edit: . . . and I'm still jealous you got to go to the UcheaT game! LOL!
After one more year of recruiting and a few transfer portal openings, we'll be fine. That 2024 class will be huge for our defense. I'd like to focus on who we have and how well they are doing. But I'm also excited about who we have recruited for the near future.
I have a roster question: Is there any way that a Redshirt Sophomore could be signed by anyone other than Mullen? I ask this question because there are a ton of R-So who are contributing right now.
Transfers could be from this staff....Damion George for example. But I don't think there are a ton of them contributing, maybe a half dozen or so....Barber, Sapp, Scooby most prominent
I don't think Kamari is looking to leave. his IG is active and he's in Gator Gear with posts about people not knowing what is up but to trust the process and long term plan.
I hope his mind is in the right place. He having some adversity but he can work through. It’ll be good for him.
The NCAA only allows for 80 players to travel? That should be changed to 85 players... NCAA full of crap... as always.
