This one has some shelf life...good call.

 

Is Mertz here for 2 years? I thought he was like a 5th or 6th year Senior already? Would be great if he is here another year to allow DJ to develop with not that much pressure. I know this is bad to say on my part, but I was extremely concerned about Mr. Mertz before the season started. The number of picks he had thrown at Wisconsin made me a bit of a doubter....... Had never seen him play before. After seeing him play very well the last several games, I do hope he can continue his progress here and even have one more year here at UF. He can throw with zip, can mentally process, and can run when needed with confidence.

They might try to accurately rank Waller and Amaris Williams like they have for Lagway.

He is a redshirt junior, he can return next year if he wants to use the covid year

 

Yeah, I know you're kidding, but it wouldn't surprise me if they did. I mean he committed to the Gators after all.

 

Ah thank you. I forgot about the COVID year. Huh, that would be pretty ideal if Lagway could understudy Mertz for a year before taking the reigns.

However it would be even idealer if Lagway makes Mertz his backup. Mertz can still teach and we'd finally have QB depth.

 

Rivals has DJ as the number 1 QB in the class, but only a high 4-star. Huuuhhh? Whhuut?

 

He had two years of eligibility when he transferred in. I checked.

 

Being a RS Jr already includes the covid year.
