Simply, North Carolina is the buffer between my great state of Virginia and the Great Unwashed of the South. Think of it as a sewer filter.
I understand and no hard feelings. But there are reasons I do things the way I do them here. The previous week (Tennessee) @GatorGrowl started a thread that was the antithesis of the one I usually start - so I decided to let his be "the one": To Hell With Tennessee The week before that (McNeese State) would have been about Louisiana - but we are playing LSU later in the season - so why not wait until THAT week to have one? Make sense? FWIW.....I would have started one this week (Charlotte) but I usually wait until at least Tuesday, because Mondays should be all about absorbing what happened the previous game on Saturday. We have a really great vibe going on here with some really fantastic members. A big reason it all works is because everyone pretty much goes with the flow. I try not to overwork our forum - and certainly don't want any kind of 'dictatorship' like atmosphere. I hope this response is helpful and again no hard feelings... GO Gators!
I live in Charlotte part time and have a townhouse there. My primary residence is in Alachua, though. It is usually about 5 degrees cooler and 15% to 20% less humidity in Charlotte, so there is that. But the best thing is all the hiking and rafting and tubing and other things to do in the various forests and recreational areas. That and it isn't South Carolina. I hate driving through that pit every month.
Stayed in a 150-year-old log cabin in Mars Hill for the entire month of February. Loved it. Also, my grandmother was from Salisbury.
Actually no. It's literally on the state line of North and South Caroline. Celebrating The Carolinas at Carowinds' State Line Celebration - Coaster101
You may be right. We drove up to it through Cherokee, NC, so I thought it was on the NC side. If I’m wrong, we’ll apply this to the “say something nice about Tennessee” thread.
It splits across state lines. When we would go there as kids, it was cool to stand with one foot on each side of the line. Back when we could get a summer pass for $10. Awesome summer.
If they could just figure out a way to bypass SC, life would be so much easier. Those roads, including I95 and I26, are the worst in the south. There is no easy way through that hell.
