FWIW, incredible how popular In and Out is out here. There are two or three that I pass by fairly regularly and I swear, no matter the time, there is always a very long line of cars at the drive-thru. One of those things that if you didn't know anything about them, you can't help but notice.

That’s funny and sad that you grouped teachers in with FF workers.

Just don’t understand your logic ‘your business deserves to fail ‘. Seems
Rather calllous to someone else’s livelihood. Not everyone has a business with prohibitive or govt protected barriers to entry and huge margins. Matter of fact most don’t.

The government for a long time has basically said McDonalds franchisees are independent businesses, which has done them a huge favor in holding off union organization and tax savings.

Yet, employment skyrocketed in 2021 & 2022. Weird.

Or maybe you think biden was responsible for the 20m jobs lost in 2020?

They are. Most ‘owners’ have a small geographical footprint and are not nationwide conglomerates.

Sure lol. When it benefits McDonalds, they control their franchises from top to bottom, when FF workers want to unionize each operation is independent. This is why I have no sympathy, things are already rigged in their favor. If they cant succeed in that environment and not pay a fair wage, good riddance.

You sound like the people who have been arguing against minimum wage for the past 50 years with the same copy/pasted arguments. Remember when Obama was in office and the leader of the GOP said that raising the minimum wage to $9 would be a job killer? Was the raise to 70 cents an hour a job killer? How about to $2? Was the American economy destroyed?

Stores in England and Scotland had 1 person at a register for cash only transactions, everything else went in via touchscreen and delivered through a counter to an industrial kitchen with lots of automation

Perhaps, but is there no room for "paper boy" type jobs any more? Some businesses need just low hour, low wage help to just complete small tasks.

I dont think every job has to pay a living wage. Some are just for "beer money" etc.

The nature of business in capitalism is to try to make every job a "paper boy" job. This is why child labor is coming back. This is why any 'skilled' job eventually breaks down into discrete tasks to hire cheaper labor for smaller tasks. You have to hold the line, or else they will want everyone to work like that.

Depends on perspective. When you are front row witness to people that save and plow their entire savings into a business/ franchise etc. then be given orders of the likes of you who are naive at best, as to how they manage risk and operate a business. And added with insult or a good riddance if they fail. But then when they overcome all that and succeed then people like you want an ever increasing cut without putting penny or ounce of sweat on the line all while your wag your finger with calling them profiteer

There's been study after study on the impact on small businesses and minimum wage being a job killer just isn't true.
