It happens. This is the time of year when bears consume incredible amounts of food and energy stored as onboard fat so that they can fast during the time when food is scarce - all they do is wander and eat and can end up in some weird places (I got a 400 lb'r out of Duckpond in G'ville). - also whatever campground they have down there gets bear visits. They have some pretty good Disney folks that handle most bear incidents but if it requires chemical restraint - they dont have those licenses - or at least they didn't in my day.

Universal growth will not allow Disney to stand idle while they battle desi

Disney doubling investment in parks after narrowing lawsuit against DeSantis (msn.com)

The Walt Disney Company announced it will double its expenditures for its theme parks and cruise line to $60 billion over the next 10 years and touted "over 1,000 acres of land for possible future development to expand theme park space across its existing sites."

The significant investment is being framed as going to all of its resorts, including its flagship Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. The announcement comes weeks after the company narrowed its lawsuit against Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) and the governing district for the Walt Disney World Resort to only First Amendment claims.
    ........................
Earlier this month, Disney reiterated its plans to redevelop the Dinoland U.S.A. at Disney's Animal Kingdom theme park at the Walt Disney World Resort. The company also said it was exploring expansion plans for Magic Kingdom Park, also at the Florida resort.

The move to invest in its resort and reiterate plans comes months after Disney announced it would be scrapping a planned corporate campus in Lake Nona, Florida, and Iger's public questioning of whether the state of Florida wanted Disney to invest in the state.

Saw this this morning and admit to being surprised that they are announcing about large investments here. They must be confident they will be able to control their investments. Not sure I would be as confident, though I am cynical

They weren't specific about where they'd be investing

The article I read had a fair amount of Florida investment, although perhaps not as much as one would expect as a matter of proportion given the amount of assets here.

Piece I read. Some investment here, though again, less than I would have expected given how much is here:

Disney is confident in its plans, saying in a prepared statement that it’s seen growth following previous periods of significant investment, which included the additions of Cars Land at Disney California Adventure, Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland and Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World, Avengers Campus at California Adventure and Walt Disney Studios Park in Paris.

It’s also opening new Frozen-themed lands at its Hong Kong, Paris and Tokyo properties, along with a Zootopia-themed land in Shanghai. And during a presentation at its Destination D23 event earlier this month, Disney made several parks announcements, including plans to create a new Pirates of the Caribbean-themed lounge in Magic Kingdom and the reimagining of the Test Track ride at Epcot.

Looks like Disney is trying to move on from the culture wars. Glad to be moving on from this.

Disney CEO says company will 'quiet the noise' in culture wars, according to analyst note.

Walt Disney (DIS.N) CEO Bob Iger told investors the company will "quiet the noise" in a culture war that has pitted social conservatives against the global media and entertainment conglomerate, according to an analyst note on Wednesday.

Iger’s brief statement, included in an analyst report from Needham media analyst Laura Martin, was part of an investors’ presentation on Tuesday at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida, in which the CEO also announced Disney will double its investment in theme parks and cruise ships over the next decade.

I don’t recall mentioning DEI or anything political in my post in any way. Can you please give us a break from your nonsense?

Universal is kicking their asses because they are currently providing a superior product to Disney and they are in construction on a massive addition.

Disney used to be the superior experience. In fact, 10-15 years ago they two weren’t even comparable. Disney was far and away superior in every way. Universal has obviously worked hard at improving while Disney has not.

Iger was brought back for a reason, and it wasn’t for business as usual
