it’s an eye opening understanding of fast food and franchise operations. Rich Dad, Poor Dad + Cash Flow Quadrant. Not my brand of politics, but an interesting study nonetheless.

Man you brought back memories. In the 90s my folks were broke college students (my step Dad was attending optometry school in Memphis) so those Tuesdays were the peak of the week to me as an early teen.

    Unless it's postal workers.

How much is something like delivering the mail worth?

Indeed, many immigrants will do jobs that Americans won't, but that is more about their desperation Companies like to employ them because they can get away with paying them much less.

FWIW, most people don't stay on welfare, and a majority of them work and receive assistance, or are children, disabled, or elderly.

Interesting way to tell us you don't know that different places have different costs of living.

Yeah I wouldn't expect someone to be able to rent their own place in one of Americas most expensive cities doing a job that requires no skills and has no barrier to entry.

Really interested in the politics of the exception for companies that bake their own bread??? Panera, Subway, I assume Donuts, etc. Seems like there had to be some favors unless I’m missing something.

FWIW i am on record as saying we, postal workers, are overpayed compared to police, firefighters, emt's, teachers.and yes i am in our union, although i do not tend to agree with much of our national leaders policies.

An entry-level, below average wage should not be expected to cover an average rent in an expensive location.

    Two questions:

Is there a reason that a person in Iowa is unable to leave the state of Iowa if they aren't getting paid as much as somebody in another area?
Do you also think that people should be mad about executive pay rather than just mad at pretty poor people in another area making a bit more?

is there a reason someone in california cannot leave if it is too expensive?yes people should be mad about executive pay, but they should voice their opinion to the people who grant that pay.

Nope. Aren't you all fond of pointing that out?

    And who would that be?

So we should yell at executives at other companies for providing high executive pay?

I really don’t support this and not sure why it is necessary.

Having said that seems like most fast food places here in TX are paying around $15 so $20 doesn’t seem like a stretch.

Ultimately it will just accelerate automation. Or perhaps they all start baking their own bread.

i agree automation is coming, jobs will be lost. most mcdonalds i see have self service kiosks instead of a register, if there is one people are pointed to the kiosks.
