High School Band Director gets tazed for refusing to stop playing after a game

Yersterday, I watched a guy get tazed in the back of the head, twice, after not showing identification. That was rough. I've seen a cop taze a minor on a 4 wheeler driving down the street, killing him. I've seen a cop taze another cop's kid until he was unconscious and then drop him, face first, onto the pavement causing brain damage. I've seen a cop taze a guy laying in a pool of gasoline, fully engulfing him. They are quick to use it, and it doesn't matter if they are passively resisting.

 

Yep, that cop needs taser sensibility training... Lol.

 

Thanks for posting this as I hadn't found it before! After watching, this confirms to me the director's attitude and disdain for what he was being instructed to do was the direct reason for the escalation. The officer seemed more than reasonable from the outset with the instructor. The first words out of the director's mouth was "get out of my face". He was given multiple warnings and ample time to comply with orders. It's more than a bit damning that this was done 20 min post game, that the other team's band director complied immediately, and that the lights were turned out in the middle of this. The school district likely has specific procedures and guidelines postgame they have to follow as well and I'm betting this music director knew that.

 

IF that is true and he was in some sort of violation per the county then that changes the right the cops had. It doesnt make tazing him the right strategy though.

No, of course not why would CNN give all the details. Let's use a little common sense here, the home team got their butts handed to them and the cops obviously were trying to stop anything from escalating but as a few of blindly and ignorantly always ignore this. I think anybody with a lick of common sense knows that's the only reason why the cops were asking them to leave

Right, it's CNN's fault. Either that or you just assumed something with no basis. There are plenty of other stories about the incident. Maybe you can find something to back up what you're claiming.

 

Go watch the video again, that director was an asshole and refused to obey the cops. He got exactly what he deserved

Perhaps not, hard to determine really. It also didn't happen until things had escalated well beyond where they ever should have in the first place. By that point, the officers had already informed the director several times that he was going to be arrested, cuffed and taken downtown. It was pretty evident he didn't feel like "going quietly".

Removing cats from trees is a prime example of the proper use of a tazer.

Sounds more like the description of the cop who tased the band director than the band director.

Seems that's really another indication that the cops wanted to leave as soon as possible rather than waiting another 10 or 15 minutes while the band played and thought that they could motivate the band director through unnecessary threats of arrest and when that wasn't effective they turned to the use of a taser.
