Lived in Winston Salem for twenty years, you are on the money. Did you ever go to Ziggy’s, great venue for live music. haven’t been back in seven years, it might not still be in business. Saw Collective Soul, Delbert McClinton, Los Lonely Boys, Southern Culture on The Skids, Chris Stapleton, Driven and Crying, BlackBerry Smoke and many others
Beautiful state, I spent 10 days with my son's Boy Scout troop on a high adventure trip. Stayed near Balck Mountain and did a 3 day, 2 night hike in that forest. Stunning views! Some of the boys had difficulty going from flat land to that terrain and we trained for it for months.
Loved Chimney Rock and Lake Lure. 40th birthday I drove a race car around Charlotte Speedway for 8 laps, 140mph best lap. (Richard Petty Experience)
-Fishing for Reds, kings, wahoos, flounder. -BBQ -Atlantic Beach, Emerald Isle, Topsail Beach, Wrightsville Beach. -Beautiful girls from UNCW. I love NC, one of my favorite places being station (twice).
As someone who lived along the Virginia/NC border and vacationed in Emerald Isle for many years, it's a fantastic state. I'd love to move to the western part of the state within the next 10-15 years. Carolina BBQ is my favorite. Pulled pork sammy, with slaw, texas pete and a good vinegar sauce. Can't beat it.
...which in turn yield Gomer Pyle (Jim Nabors), and Ron Howard, who went on to yield a remarkable body of work as actor, then more impressively, as director.
That sounds awesome. I haven't actually been there (W/S) but would like to make it someday. I had read this recently about Texas Pete. Someone actually tried to sue them because it's not made in Texas, lol.
Apparently the fastest female beer runner lives there. Now I don’t know who thought it would be a good idea to combine beer drinking and running but apparently the women of Charlotte are pretty good at it. https://www.charlotteobserver.com/charlottefive/c5-people/article279363119.html
Had dinner with him and Aunt Bea yesterday. Western NC has great roads if you own a motorcycle or sports car.
I'm from greensboro, moved there at 2 years of age, left at 18 when i went to UF, and never moved back....
Since they changed the laws, NC has developed an excellent microbrew culture. Especially in the Asheville area, but it also flourishes in the Raleigh-Durham, Charlotte and Wilmington areas as well.
