Your timeline makes perfect sense. I still think that some veterans didn't know particulars but knew he was doing something wrong in June, tried to intervene, and were blown off, causing the suspension and July's debacle
Rays top 3 college player picks doing well at low A Charleston. 1. Taylor, .951 OPS 2. Ledbetter, .936 OPS 3. Morgan, 1.063 OPS Small sample size but good start. I've wondered how top college baseball teams compare to minor league levels. These 3 are finding low A pretty easy so far.
I admit I stayed up last night after twice giving up a bit. It's rare to win by three runs in extra innings after you've been on the wrong side of a grand slam and a triple play. Strange season
All the signs point to him not coming back this season or maybe ever Rays statement on Wander Franco: We support Major League Baseball’s decision to place Wander Franco on Administrative Leave. The Tampa Bay Rays are dedicated to upholding high standards of integrity both on and off the field. We appreciate the understanding and patience of our fans and supporters as this process unfolds. We will have no further statements on this matter until MLB completes its process.
I have a very good friend who pitched in the MLB and was a coach for 10+ Years. He said Low A ball is more like average college baseball. He said when kids like Crews or Langford will find the pitching much easier than the SEC. Won't be SEC caliber until AA ball was his comparison. Seeing how well Crews(already promoted to AA) and Langford are doing(1.005 OPS) his comparison seems correct.
I don’t see the signs. There is an investigation going on in the Dominican. Until that is resolved, Franco is not going to be playing baseball.
Rays are 10-4 since Franco last played for them. But seems like Baltimore wins every game these days...
Every. Freaking. Game. Rays have a monstrous run differential advantage on the season too, but July killed their mojo.
Yep, and finally got to 30 wins above .500. They were at 29 above .500 on June 30, dipped to 19 above in late July, and are now at 30 above. Nice August.
Looks like the Rays are staying in St Pete. Rays set to announce deal for new downtown St. Petersburg stadium
Disagree. The stadium sits in an empty area of town surrounded by an interstate and parking lots. The new one will sit in an 80 acre entertainment district with 1000's of new condos, businesses etc. A small city within the city. The whole area will be a destination. It is 4 times larger than The Battery in Atlanta where the Braves built their new park. Nothing about this is the same. And the Rays have a averaged pretty similar attendance to about 10 other clubs this season, with a much more expensive price option. Around 18k.
