Three Gators Receive Half-Game Suspensions for Florida-Tennessee Altercation

Numbers sound about right from what I could see on the broadcast.

Vollies should have had at least the same number suspended.

 

why? did they have the same number of people trying to throw punches?

 

I only definitively saw one of their guys and one of our guys throwing punches, but we didn’t get much of a view and the broadcast immediately cut away to some clown show. Their guy that was throwing punches was in the middle of a big group, we could have had a guy or two in there throwing some, but it was hard to tell with what we were given.

 

Heart says they should have more suspensions but I imagine they looked at this more closely than we were able to so I'm good with it. We may not be the SEC darlings but I don't buy there was some bias against how punishment was levied.

 

So Omari Thomas the UT guy who hit Mertz got nothing. Thought he was called for targeting.

 

Thought George made up for his poor play against UT. Sprung a few runs with his blocks and I don't recall him having penalty issues Saturday.

 

The targeting was overturned on review, probably correctly

 

I will never ever understand why they do that...

 

Man, we are in trouble. I hope we can pull this out.

 

Use the suspensions to build depth.

 

Was it still a penalty, less the targetting? I'm not even sure why it's a penalty. Mertz didn't take a knee until a split second before the contact and was jogging around trying to run out the clock, so seems like fair game for a tackle.

But I'm also 100% sure if we did that we'd get a penalty called on us, so I'll take it.

 

A teaching moment, but with zero impact to the team because of opponent. A win-win.

 

Personally I'm not really concerned with the status of the UT roster. To each their own I guess.

Unless you think whining about it will give us football God karma points or something I'm not sure why you are either.
