WSJ ranks the top 400 universities in the US and UF is the top ranked public university, coming in at #15. FIU - #29 Miami - #90 FSU - #102 USF - #151 UCF - #172 FAU - #183 The 2024 Best Colleges in America: Princeton, MIT and Yale Take Top Spots Best U.S. Colleges 2024 - WSJ / College Pulse Rankings
27th in Forbes as well. Forbes America's Top Colleges List 2023 usnews comes out sep 18, that should be interesting. You would think UF’s reputational score will take a hit with all the politics of the last year. But there was also a large revamp of their scoring model this year that favors us, they are putting a higher value on outcomes, ROI and social mobility. Regardless, it’s amazing to see what UF has become. It’s a legit top tier school now.
This really IS Too Hot!!! Apparently rankings are inversely related to football success (except for UCF). 1) Princeton 2) MIT 3) Yale 4) Stanford 5) Columbia 6) Harvard 7) Pennsylvania 8) Amherst 9) Claremont McKenna 10) Babson 11) Swarthmore 12) Georgetown 13) Vanderbilt 14) Lehigh 15) Florida
Makes sense. Maybe we should not try as hard on the academic front. Where was UGAG ranked. I got paywalled.
I think it'll take some time for what's happening to begin to show. But if our "leadership" doesn't change tacks fast, we'll start seeing the effects of top talent not wanting to work at or attend our state universities.
Raise your hand if when you read Babson, you thought that was a typo because you never heard of that school before.
Top colleges for free speech on campus: 1) Michigan Technological University 2) Auburn University 3) University of New Hampshire 4) Oregon State University 5) Florida State University Bottom colleges for free speech: 1) Harvard University 2) University of Pennsylvania 3) University of South Carolina 4) Georgetown University 5) Fordham University 17) University of Florida Source: Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression
Hilarious ranking. This reminds me of FIRE having to remove Hillsdale from its ranking last year because it was going to be ranked #1 despite not being remotely committed to free speech or expression.
USNews rankings are out, we fell from fifth to 6th among publics, up from #9th to 28th overall (their new formula helps publics a bit). FSU fell from 19th among publics I think to 23rd. Miami fell to 67th overall. We are the only top 50 university in the state. https://www.usnews.com/best-colleges/rankings/national-universities/top-public
Interesting. Very few states have multiple top 30 schools: California is #1, #2, #10, #12, #28 Virginia is #5, #20, #23 Michigan is #3, #28 North Carolina is #4, #28 Florida is #6, #23 Texas is #9, #20 Georgia is #10, #20
To be fair, people have said that UF will START to feel the impact of DeSantisism Authoritarianism in our schools and universities. We dropped out of the Top 5, and I hope that is not the beginning of a trend. And I REALLY hope I’m wrong about my expectation that we will drop over the next 5-10 years. And, let’s not pretend everything is rosy. Florida State, who piggy-backed on our success, dived down the rankings. UF is now Florida’s ONLY school in the top 50.
