Big time face kiss. Powerful. Almost worth watching us fade when one of those exclamation points happens.
Great match losing Stuckey sucked. We will probably see them in the tournament later. hopefully with a different result. go gators
10,313!!! This should have a positive impact on Recruits! I wonder how many times SEC teams have sold out their arena for volleyball? Our team is so young. As long as our best players stay put, the next 3-4 years have the potential to be the greatest in Wise's career. Volleyball will be in great position to bring home that elusive natty for Wise. Women's Softball, Gymnastics, T&F, Swimming, Lacrosse will all be national title contenders. And women's tennis is on the upswing too.
the dolt color announcer said she didn't see a difference without stucky. lol! they didn't catch essix wasn't playing either. if we have stucky, essix, and hutson, uf is unbeatable. with just stucky, wisky goes down 3-0. i hope stucky's injury isn't season ending. btw, cmw looks like genius to getting okammor pt in earlier matches. nnedi played great today.
I was watching the Louisvillle-Stanford match before ours. Commentators were talking about their current top 5 teams. Neither one mentioned Florida. They said "Louisville, Wisconsin, Stanford...Texas and Minnesota have a couple of losses...oh and Nebraska looks good. Then everyone else...such parity...
While losing the match hurts the possibility for losing Stuckey for a few games or the season hurts much more. Her replacement was OK but not the same threat at the net for a killer dump. That threat can keep some blockers away from the pins. And she has incredible court awareness that is rare.
The setter is like the team QB - the offense runs through her. Kennedy Muff is a Grad Transfer who was a star at Flagler College in St. Augustine. But that's a lot different that playing at a Top 5 D1 program. Stuckey is taller, very deceptive with her passing, can serve really well, blocks well and can sneak in a kill shot every now and then. She is truly an All-American and will be missed tremendously when she's not on the floor. I noticed, too, that Kennedy Martin's production dropped off dramatically when Stuckey left the game. The preciseness of the set-up passing was just not as efficient or crisp. No fault of Muff's - she's good and the only other setter on the team. She's just not Alexis. Mary Wise even experimented a few times without a setter on the court and stole a few points that way. But it's going to be really hard to win matches against quality teams without a high tier setter.
I was about 10 feet from where Stuckey ended up down on the floor. I don't know how much they showed on TV -- sometimes they cut away for this type of thing -- but her face showed obvious intense pain. It was just horrible to see and it was amazing that the team could play at all after that, much less get to a tie-breaker. Even as a fan, it was hard to get back into it. Godspeed to Alexis and hopefully, as she says before every serve, "Got it!"
