Well, you can pretty much count on anything coming out of a vol fan's mouth as being something less than well-reasoned or even-handed. Just saying...
They had ZERO chance of scoring 2 touchdowns with an onside kick recovery in 9 seconds. They barely scored 2 touchdowns in 60 mins. Let's just enjoy the victory over the 11th ranked team in the nation. Remember lots of people on this board and nationally said we had no chance. Not only did we have a chance but we dictated the game.
You nailed it with the "stupid and selfish observation." But TBH, they were only following their HC's lead...
That reminded me of SOS's approach to games. He did the same exact thing while he was our coach. And I consciously thought about it when it was happening. Thanks for reminding me... I wonder if he and SOS talked about that? Lol..

Props to Castell. Playing great and will get better. Almost all questions on defense are getting answers. Linebackers becoming formidable.
This would have required Jack Miller to come in possibly. Mertz I believe had both hands injured. The gloved hand I could see him avoiding even during the snap count clap. His throwing hand I believe would have opened up bleeding anytime he attempted a throw, but I could be wrong. I just think we decided with the score, the injuries, to keep him out there and keep the lead with our run game versus change out quarterbacks for someone that can throw without bleeding out, lol.
I was at the 1994 Auburn/LSU game (only AU game I have ever been to) when Auburn got five interceptions in the fourth quarter, three that were returned for touchdowns, to come from way behind and beat LSU. Anything can happen I suppose but I thought halftime was a little too early to go into clock runout mode. We got a lot of help from an overrated team that is not very good. If they had been as good as the whole world thought they were last night’s game could have turned into a nail-biter. No wonder my UT buddies weren’t talking much leading up to this game.
A better team would have taken advantage of the 3rd qtr Gator 3 and outs.... a couple of scoring drives and now it's the Gator D that's gassed going into the 4th qtr in a close game and the pressure is now squarely on our offense. I'd like to let the offense mature a little more before doing that. I'm just as happy as the next guy for the win and pumped for the the season as it progresses. Mertz had great poise, looked more comfortable and was delivering the ball. Etienne was a beast. D played well but still needs a lot of work on tackling and wrapping players up. Too many missed tackles and letting up during the ball carriers second efforts. Special teams, ehh. But I've seen way too many games when the team leading backs off, loses the momentum and goes home with a loss. And one more thing, throw the damn ball to Caleb Douglas more.
Not on offsetting penalties. They did get it back. Penalties were offsetting so no runoff. They had to come back out and snap the ball again after the melee.
