You’re right. We aren’t that bad. I guess losing to Kentucky multiple times has got to me. Haha But really, it could be worse.
I pay very little attention to the opinions of sports "journalists". But I do know what I read on this board, and there is a ton of negativity posted here after every game by so called gator "fans". Period. I don't know how anyone could possibly deny that.
Was the best Gator game I’ve seen in 3 years. Dominant against a solid opponent, hopefully they build on it and continue because no one in the SEC is looking dominant so the field is wide open
I am the same as what you posted except for playing as an athlete for UF. at the end of the day, it’s just a game, but loyalty is the most rare coin of the realm I could never even imagine quitting on this team because of bad times The very foundation of the gators is “in all kinds of weather“
Small, immature, insecure people trying to make themselves feel better by putting players, coaches and other posters down. Trolls who will never know they are. A lot of passive aggressive nonsense. Instead of, "I wish we hadn't gone conservative." It's "Spurrier would never let his foot off Napier better hire an OC." Never happy.
It didn’t have the tension and the game breaking plays that fairly recent lsu and auburn wins in the Swamp had but it was great to be there and see us dominate Tenn
As I have aged my perspective on being a fan has changed, I realize unless you are on the field playing or on the sidelines coaching the game will unfold as it will no matter what your emotions are! I will add that the fans in attendance last night certainly played their part in influencing the game, that was great to see and hear, there hasn't been that energy from the stands in some time, it was wonderful to watch! Most of the sports teams I follow are not very good (TFC, Hearts, QPR, Montreal Canadiens) and the Gators haven't been really good for a while so maybe I have been hardened and it is easier to gain perspective! In saying all this I am still buzzing today after that great win last night and can't wait for the next big game for our orange and blue!
I used to get pretty overly pissed for a few days. Maybe I’m just getting older or maybe my expectations are as high. We will see next time we have a championship caliber team that loses. I never felt that any of our teams since 09 was the best team in tge country. We’ve had some good ones but never elite.
OP, I'm about your age, and growing up with the Gators during the Spurrier era definitely spoiled us. Even when Zook came in, I still had really high standards. When we blew that 23 point lead against Miami in '03, it ruined my whole weekend. At that point I ultimately decided I would never let the result of a football game bother me that much again. Just gotta keep things in perspective and hopefully it'll help you. Obviously there's still the highs and lows of the game that affect my mood very briefly (like any sports fan), but not significantly enough to impact anything in my life. I'll never give up Gator football no matter what.
It’s not your age. I’ve been on GC much longer than my official profile date would suggest and the negativity seems to get worse each year. There may come a day I would walk away from the boards, but a W/L record will never impact my fan hood of the degree on my wall.
I never give up on the Gators. Win, lose, or draw I'm watching the games. Losses bother me sometimes, but I am also more into the journey than the destination. Winning wouldn't feel so good if it wasn't for knowing the feeling of losing. I think when people are too emotionally invested, that's what leads to pressuring the school to make rash decisions or changes. It also negatively impacts our recruiting. Can't be out there bashing players and whining all the time.
Media gets more attention and, these days, clicks . . . when they report bad news or sensational (hyperbolic) news. ESPN is in a class by itself and has been for some years. Poor Herbie is still mad today. He couldn't hit the button "switch to Colorado State game" fast enough. LOL!
