Great win! Always satisfying to beat Tennessee. I think we are still a little thin on defensive line and got a little gassed by the end of the game. But, overall, they played with energy and emotion. For the most part, our defensive backs were in position to challenge throws. Our first half offense was amazing. Mertz may not be Patrick Mahomes, but he does have better pocket presence than I thought and he made some excellent throws into tight windows. If both sides of the ball play the entire game like the first half, we will be hard to beat.

When he shook Napier’s hand after the game he said “I’m sorry about that…” and then something I couldn’t understand. Napier just replied “no problem”.

Yeah, we need more... I suspect we limited the plays for some reason. I wonder if we're ever going to run out of 10 or 00 personnel formation on offense. I hope we have that somewhere in our offense.

LOL. Just read something in an ESPN article about the game.

"The Vols' drought in the Swamp spans six coaches: Phillip Fulmer, Lane Kiffin, Derek Dooley, Butch Jones, Jeremy Pruitt and Heupel."

Napier: Upset of Vols 'validates' plan at Florida

They were playing very close to los and trying to take exactly that away and stop the run. The plays to go over the top were there but it looks like the correct gameplan was used. We were up three scores and no need for big plays in the wrong direction. Even the shanked punt out of bounds may have been the play just not like that, no reason to allow a return at all at that point.

SOS used to spread our team out even on run plays... but it can be risky. I think Napier took the logical approach and went with it. It worked too.

The one thing UF needs more than anything right now is stability. A lot of what BN does off the field leads me to believe that’s what he can bring. Like many I have a few concerns about him being the play caller, but I also recognize it is year 2 with young players, a new QB and what many predicted would be a potentially losing season. The one thing I see (my opinion) from BN is he will evaluate things and make the changes if he thinks they will improve things. Armstrong is a good example. I don’t think he makes them during the season. He’s a little methodical IMO. Slow incremental changes is how you build sustainability. We’ve seen too many guys come in and improve things quickly only to crash and burn.

On the other hand, the Vols were racing down the field in the waning moments and were one play away for setting up for an onside kick in a game in which we were getting torched long. Fortunately for us Milton can’t throw on the move, we got pressure, and he drilled a ball into the turf to end the onslaught.

He's still got a bunch of apologizing to do for that. Dude looks like a 6th year frat boy after an all-night bender.

I believe we wNt four wide in the first half but after Wilson went out and we were three scores up, we just gave the ball to rbs and watched the clock dwindle. They needed to score every possession

I still remember spurrier losing to auburn with a three td lead in the second hal with Fred Taylor in the backfield. Interception after interception with no need to do that. It can go both ways.

It was 4th down and 9 sec left. They would have gotten the ball back. If it wasn't for the penalty.

Billy landed a major blow last night against the "disaster is just around the corner" narrative, with a very solid win in a time of great adversity. The media would have buried BN and the Gators in a shitstorm of derision and mocking speculation about him not even making it through the season if we had lost. They will try to resurrect the doomsday crap at the first bump in the road anyway, but WTF cares. UF and BN showed that the progress is real and that the model for roster building is reaping results. Those among us of little faith need to get a grip. IGTBAFG!

Someone on another board made a great point about Castell. His best play last night was consoling Jackson immediately after he gave up the last touchdown. Just awesome leadership to see. Love it.

Nothing wrong with your take, except for us silly folk. One of the reasons I wanted to stop posting last night was because I could see the game was going to create some over-gyrations in some folks' take on what was happening. This group is WAY tired of try and fail. And what you are asking is for patience and resolve/trust. Kind of like asking a starving person to wait for the turkey cooking in the oven instead of filling up on the chips and dip. Easier said than done.

Make no mistake, a HUGE reason for last night's game was the crowd. Now about those away games...

We have depth , hurry up offense just kept us from substituting as often as we would have liked.
