There are so many times in last 15 years that I have gotten down about Florida football. I've told myself I'm no longer going to waste my time or emotional energy on "a game." After a loss I don't even want to think about or look at anything Florida Football until the next Saturday. After the game against Utah, I felt that more than ever. I really told myself "this is it." Like most, I have too much else to do or worry about to spend so much time on this emotional roller coaster that is college football. Alas, come Saturday I am anxiously awaiting the 7 pm kickoff. When I saw the sea of blue, a crowd reminiscent of the Swamp of the 90s and big games of more recent decades, I felt just like I have for most of the last near 40 years of fandom. I am up at 7 am on a Sunday just because I am so excited about last night. This is why I keep doing it. I know others have to feel like this too. Anyone?

I've been a fan since the '70's and I never once had those thoughts...

Geez man. Been a fan since I was like 4 but it's never emotionally impacted me. I'm not on the team or something, just supporting them. Too many things in my life to invest emotions and stuff into a game. Maybe you need to do some self reflecting on why you feel the need to get so worked up about something completely out of your control.

The only people that need to root for a winner or winning team, are the type of person that takes rides on wagons... not me.

Win of lose... no wagon rides for me. But this does not preclude the possibility of my ever accurate critiques... Lol. :D;)

It’s definitely some added stress to my life that I’m sure a lot of sports fans feel. In the end, I think that stress has been worth it, because I’ve received a lot of joy out of being a fan. You’re exactly right though, it’s nothing to get that worked up about considering there are much more important things in life.

I've been a Gator since I was a kid. Both my parents attended UF (my mom was in the first coed class).

I'll never give up on the Gators; too many memories there. But with all due respect to this board, the constant negativity and bitching by posters here really, really turns me off and makes me think I need to spend my time on something else, because I can't relate to so many Gator fans anymore. We used to be one big family.

    Maybe it's just age.

My all time favorite sport is mountain curling and second is summer sledding (when you ride on last years Christmas tree being pulled by a truck (or car) through the grass from a rope.
I read this forum but just cannot understand all the hoopla about this football game. It’s just a bunch of fat guys running around on a field either doing what they are told or acting crazy and wanting to fight all the time over an odd shaped leather object. I just don’t get it but maybe one day I will. Sigh.

    In my head--- UF

    15?

I started when UF went 0-10-1.

football is a reality show. through ups and downs, sitting at national championship games or watching musgump.

if you want to quit on them, quit on them.

you are entitled to your opinion, but guys like you make me really angry coming on here in writing stuff like you did on the original post.

I guess the good thing is we know who you are now

I used to feel bad for days after a loss but I've grown to realize wins and losses really don't affect my life at all.

But it still makes everything better when you win.

I like your response to that poster.

I know the remedy for this guy... Stop reading the opinions of the gator fans on this forum... Besides that most of the "negativity" is coming from the sports networks.

I say 15 years because we’ve had a rough go for several seasons over the last 15 years. I started watching Florida football at age 7, in 1991. I definitely started being a fan at a great time. The 90s were awesome. Even during that time I would get upset at losses, but they didn’t happen often. I have watched every game in person or on TV since 1993. I have never quit on them. I don’t know why what I posted made you angry. I was just simply trying to say that despite the ups and downs, I keep finding a reason to stay. It’s not always easy though!

Yep. As my kids get older and have their priorities it has helped me reevaluate mine.

It should be noted that my oldest of 3 is a soph in college and Tennessee hasnt won at the Swamp in her lifetime. :D

3 NY 6 bowls and a top 3 finish under Muschanp. In that span. Thats 4 years that we were in the title hunt.

People act like we are Nebraska sometimes. Geez.

The indoctrination of Gator football to your children never ends as a parent... not even when they become adults. ;):D
