I agree. I would also remind everyone of the culture that had to be changed . . . and only so much could be accomplished in Year 1. Now that we're in Year 2, the team has to build cohesion. That takes time. I still think they can do it sooner rather than later this year but not playing together before now as a group means a lot. The old all-star games were prime examples. All-stars at every single position but not really teams. The sum was not equal to all the parts. You want the sum to be greater than the parts. That's why a lot of prior statistics are apples-to-oranges and I'd like to watch these kids developing.
He is the program leader, those are his choices. LSU, Colorado, USC all had their own major challenges. LSU had like 30 scholarship players. His strategy will either work or not and we will know if it’s on the right path at the end of 2024. Regardless Napier gets the same time frame as every other coach. He shouldn’t get more and he shouldn’t get any less. It’s pretty rock solid that if you aren’t seeing major on field improvement by Y3 then the hire is a dud. The evidence with that is enormous I’m obviously not calling for him to be fired. But I can set my standard before hand rather than winging it based on emotion. I can tell you exactly what record after Y3 that I would want him fired, what record he should have a warm seat, what record he should be safe with, and what record he should be crowned king of Florida.
The first thing Sanders would do is run off every member of our team and bring in his own players. I bet that would go over well. Think about all the players who actually want to get a degree from UF. By the way, did Deion ever get his degree from FSU?
Literally shocked that a guy with a 2-0 record in FBS has somehow become an objective measure of how to build a program.
You have become downright obnoxious. Stop throwing threats at Napier. Enough of your bullshit “data-driven” barbs at our coach and our quarterback. Go pull for another team
I don’t think he ever even went to class! Colorado is all offense and very little defense. Let’s see what happens when they play a team with a defensive heart beat before using Deon as some poster child.
Fighting the good fight...I really appreciate this board and the cyber home it lends Gators fans who just enjoy being among other Gators. It really is like no other. There are no nutjob, would-be dictators in charge. No wild west anything goes idiocy. Well-regulated, when necessary, but tolerant of legitimate debate/critique/goofy humor is big here, which I like. But one of the things I appreciate most is the good sense and deep FB/historical knowledge in this community. All that and the fact that an outright troll who comes here looking for a cheap laugh is probably in for a bumpy ride. GG! BEAT UT!
Thanks for the explanation. But it is a little sad that you had to spell it out like that out for some.
There are no nutjob, would-be dictators in charge. I know exactly who you’re talking about there Lizard
What a weird thread. Started with some great info and has turned into Matt saying I think ___ because X,Y,Z and several people dogpiling on him with personal insults and heated retorts. The title of the thread is literally lets watch these kids grow together, would that not indicate there is ample room for growth? Why are people taking analytics of where we are currently as if they are slanderous blasphemy? Accusations of picking and choosing flattering metrics is totally fair, so is a limited sample size which I've seen Matt say at least a couple times. Hi Skink, can't help myself
It is so weird. It’s like we are expected to have purged 2022 and 2023 Utah from our minds and replaced them with great games. It’s pure gaslighting. 99.9% of the world admits Florida played poorly vs Utah, the 0.1% are the simps on this board. It makes no sense.
Believe me, in my limited time here I understand having it cause you to boil over. I already have switched to trying my best to let it roll off otherwise it will just stop being fun to engage at all.
