Some similarities in the 2 HC’s. Both worked their way up to being OC’s at big programs and were subsequently fired shortly thereafter by very well known HC’s. They both then went on to be OC’s at other schools before getting a HC gig at a smaller program and then landing SEC jobs one year apart. Both run their own offense that could not be any more different from one another. Billy likes the more buttoned up slow methodical ground control time consuming offense. Josh prefers the big strike downfield passing high scoring offense. Last season Tennessee won some big ball games with basically 2 guys playing pitch & catch over the top downfield. Both teams are still relatively unknown at this point. I just don’t believe Tennessee is as good as they were last year though. Both of those guys are gone, and they were spectacular. Not sure yet what UF is, better on defense, yeah, but on offense, this game will likely show the cards. Really hope Billy unleashes some sort of vertical passing aspect to the offense we haven’t seen yet, please!
The closer this game gets, the better it feels. There’s obvious questions surrounding UF’s ability to establish the run like will be needed. And play calling is still worrisome. For me, it comes down more to the belief UT will play to the level of their QB. He didn’t cut it at Michigan and was benched at UT. And improved defense, at home, gives legitimate hope. Were this game in Knoxville, I wouldn’t feel the same.
That's always a key against a good team. Consistent 3rd and long means 1st and 2nd downs weren't productive. There's a lot of negativity on that side. That "not a sophisticated offense" claim has been debunked since Kansas City won a Super Bowl running some of the exact same pass plays. I found and posted a video last year of a guy breaking down film and showing the exact same pass play working for KC because their QB threw the pass, ours didn't. The kids definitely have more plays for Coach to choose from this year. That I know. Knoxville has historically been good for 7-10 points for UcheaT, IMO. I hope The Swamp is good for that many Saturday!
I used to dread any Gator game on CBS with Vern Lundquist...The hate was real with that guy. TV volume goes down, Mick Hubert volume goes up.
The team that scores the most points will win. It's way too early in the season to know the strengths and weaknesses of either team. I hate this week btw. I don't want to see my sons team lose. My college years were magically in large part to great Gators teams. I want his experience to be as magical.
