Their has to be progress -- McNeese state game doesn't count.
we can't have false starts in the red zone, delay of games on 3rd an short, improper uniform numbers. stupid penalites, horrible clock management.

We need to see improvement with all 4 phases of the game.
    1 coaching
    2 offense
    3 defense
    4 special teams

all I ask for positive steps forward

He asked a question. I answered it.

Muschamp and Mullen won 11 games their second seasons too. That worked out great for us.

    It will appear worse:

    Pre-Heupel

    2017: 4-8
    2018: 5-7
    2019: 8-5
    2020: 3-7

    Total: 20-27 (.426)

    Heupel: 20-8 (.714)

    Pre-Napier

    2017: 4-7
    2018: 10-3
    2019: 11-2
    2020: 8-4
    2021: 6-7

    Total: 39-23 (.629)

    Napier: 7-8 (.467)

This is only Billy's second year. He can continue to build that solid foundation we so desperately need, so this is no critique on Billy. That said, Josh Heupel is doing a tremendous
    job in Knoxville.

Thanks! Was in a hurry and just a major brain fart. Besides those who might not like the post could dwell on that instead. Thanks friend.

Based upon what I've seen so far of B.N. offensive play calling and lack of discipline, no special teams play, I'll reserve until the final score. A loss is one thing, a loss with poor play calling (run it up the middle on 3rd and 8, over and over even after it hasn't worked, horrible play clock management, inexcusable penalties, ...another repeat of this B.S. and another loss to a ranked team, come on man,...that said Go Gators. Hope things turn around.

Yes... at some point, but it's been one year and two games under Napier. Since when is that the standard for needing to turn the ship around? It's atypical to have that much success that quickly. Can it happen, yes, but we shouldn't base our expectations on something that rarely happens.

How anyone can ignore the talent that BN has already put on the field, and still doubt him in this area at least, is beyond me. Of course, we have to show immediate, sustained progress as a team/staff as the season unfolds. If anyone who's been following UF thus far is expecting much more than progress toward becoming a complete team over the next two or th

Understanding that one’s first class is never going to be stellar, the second one was outside of the top 10 according to every site that measures these things as a profession. I hope that changes, but don’t ask me to pretend that it isn’t true.

Why not? you seem to be pretending that there is little or no talent on this roster after two BN classes are in, which is clearly absurd. And as far as the "experts" go, if they know so much, why aren't they doing it for real at a major program, making "real" money while doing so. And FTR, the best talent on this team is largely players added by BN to the absolute clown car of a roster left by DM. To clarify, my issue with your statement is the part about BN having proved nothing as a recruiter. Does BN still have a mountain to climb recruiting-wise? Yes. Are we stuck at square one? Not even close. JMHO.

The Vols have much more to lose than the Gators ever could. Our win would cast shade on the Vols and not elevate the Gators as much as they would take it up the backside.

As to the Buffaloes, I doubt UF would permit a coach to run-off most of the team and would have great trouble finding any personality that could bring in a better squad if they did. Season's long and has yet TBD.

to me the Kentucky game is more important. I Said I am hoping for a 7-6 season. I already figured we lose to Utah, Tenn., Ga. Lsu and Fsu plus one more game. But part of my 6 wins is Kentucky. Lose to them and might be looking at 4-8. Beat them and the season is saved.

The UF - TN rivalry is eerily similar to UF - LSU only in reverse. We tend to beat UT when we're down but we lose to LSU when they're down (and we've beaten LSU when we had no business beating them).
Kentucky, on the other hand, we always beat Kentucky except for the past 2 years - no clue why!

I wonder if you're considering recruiting rankings from a 14yr old perspective. At that time, you had UF, Bama, and LSU vying for NCs. Add Auburn. TN sucked and GA wasn't any threat to a NC. Texas A&M wasn't vying for SEC recruits or anywhere near a level to compete with Bama & LSU.
Now FL has stepped aside, but Bama's supremacy has been joined by GA. LSU is a major recruiter, TN is up, A&M is sporadic, but they beat Bama & LSU here and there. Ole Miss is now a destination and Stoops is a heck of a coach at UK. And Auburn.

You may have been at UF around the mid-late 80s or some time in the 90s, amirite? There were (finally) many years where UF could expect to recruit in the top ten. We'll get to that point again, but with the far thicker landscape of competition in the conference it's tougher to get/stay there.

And that's just the SEC. Add in programs like MI, OSU, USC, TX, OK and getting in the top ten for recruits is huge. It's not lost on me that some of the recent rankings were not even close; just noting that the top ten expectation is lofty.
