The 1983 incident was sexual. There is no claim for sexual misconduct.
I would compare it to WBB and Newbauer.

Most Anticipated Freshmen in All-Around from College Gym News Series:

Most Anticipated Freshmen in the All Around - College Gym News

Danielle Ferris and Anya Pilgrim are mentioned in the article:

    Danielle Ferris, Florida

Similar to Arkansas, Florida is going to have plenty of opportunities for new faces to join lineups after the departures of Trinity Thomas and Kayla DiCello. Ferris has national titles on vault, bars, and floor, making her the top prospect in an outstanding freshman class.

    Anya Pilgrim, Florida

ACC expansion for the 24/25 year does wonders for their women's gymnastics which is now sanctioned by the conference and will conduct its first conference championship after the 24 season:

ACC to Sponsor Women’s Gymnastics Beginning in 2023-24 Academic Year; Clemson to Add Women’s Lacrosse and Women’s Gymnastics - Atlantic Coast Conference (theacc.com)

California and Stanford were both ranked in the Final NQS top 20. How a 6-team ACC would have fared in the 23 season:

    7 California
    19 Stanford
    32 North Carolina State
    36 North Carolina
    45 Pittsburgh
XX Clemson (a new start up program)

SMU does not offer women's gymnastics.

UF should reach out to Stanford to increase our rivalry with them since they will be getting frequent flyer miles to the east coast. The Gators have played the Cardinal fairly regularly in quite a few sports with the most recent being women's volleyball.

I wonder if Nya has aspirations for Hollywood? Former NCAA Floor champion and Gator great Alicia Boren wanted to be a stunt double.

The only thing she has on her IG profile besides accomplishments is Dancer.

I'm just glad she gets to finish her gymnastics career on her terms. She likes to show off her dance on floor, so she has that going for her. Must say UCLA used less than a flattering photo in the announcement. Nya has 4 months to get back into performance shape.

Apparently, Simone Biles is the only gymnast in the world who can sit out for an extended and come back as good as ever even at the ripe old age of 26, old for gymnastics anyway. :)

BTW, I got another clear PET scan today, so all is good in the health department.

Gators Gymnastics has released its 2024 official roster:

2024 Gymnastics Roster - Florida Gators

Most programs would love to have the Florida roster.

Trinity Thomas has been added as Student Assistant Coach. Megan Skaggs is still Assistant to the Head Coach. It is outstanding to have two of UF's finest graduates to be around our young team which has 6 true freshmen to bring up to speed for the 2024 season.

There's an article from the Salt Lake Tribune re:Utah Gymnastics Head Coach Tom Farden Investigation. Here is an excerpt:

As Farden, who became the sole head coach in 2020, awaits the findings of an independent investigation into his coaching practices — tactics and a demeanor one report has described as toxic and abusive — Reinstadtler is one of several former gymnasts who saw Farden’s methods as beneficial to her performance.
“I had similar experiences,” Reinstadtler said, “but just, I think, took them in a completely different way.”
In a report published last week, five former gymnasts, four parents and two former staff members spoke to the Deseret News. They accused Farden of creating a “toxic” environment in which he verbally degraded gymnasts, pressured them to perform despite being injured or suffering from mental health issues, threw objects in anger and rewarded athletes for reporting on teammates’ lives. In the wake of those allegations, though, a stronghold of his former athletes have come to Farden’s defense. They call the coach passionate, loud, even bombastic, but not abusive.

University officials say the investigation is expected to be completed soon.

It's really not all that bad. Arkansas, Georgia, and Kentucky will have good teams, particularly Kentucky, could be top 10. Not sure about Mizzou, but probably good too if their top gymnast is back. Minnesota has been good for the last few years. Five of those teams could be top 20.

    EDIT

2023 Final NQS Ranking from Road to Nationals:

    6. Kentucky
    14. Missouri
    17. Arkansas
    18. Minnesota
    20. Georgia
    29. Illinois

    All were in NCAA regionals.

SEC Potential Lineups - Part 1

Potential Lineups: SEC Part I - College Gym News

CGN has Ellie Lazarri on beam and floor. I'm hoping for more. They question what Leanne Wong can deliver headed towards the Olympics, but the bigger questions to me are what Morgan Hurd and Riley McCusker can deliver and how quickly our freshmen can develop. The 24 season will likely be the extremes of hard knocks or a pleasant surprise. Those programs wanting to deliver payback to the Gators had better do it in 24 as UF will be back to loaded in 25. Good SEC teams have already bought their licenses for Gator hunting season.

LSU is trending up in all areas. This is no surprise as LSU is loaded and national championship caliber in 24.

I was going to ask Dr Sam, but I'll ask it here first. Why haven't we seen Trinity at any of the elite competitions so far this year? Isn't she training for a run at the Olympics? Anybody know what her plans are?

    From collegegymnews.com:

Fan-favorite Hurd underwent a seventh elbow surgery this summer, the odds seem long that they’ll be competition-ready (by Florida’s standards) come January. That said, Hurd is clearly devoted to this team and has brought valuable energy and enthusiasm to the sideline in her first two seasons, and that doesn’t seem likely to change in 2024.

I didn't know Morgan had more elbow surgery?
