Is anyone else getting 2015 Ole Miss vibes for this game, or am I just being optimistic? That 2015 Ole Miss game was F U N (payback for 2008!)
Vols are always frauds. 62.5 point favorite against Austin Peay that was only a 7 point difference until the 4th quarter. The defense is mid, and honestly Milton is one of those QBs that is simply not coachable. Sure he can sling it 80yards while on the ground with one knee, but there's clock management issues, playbook issues, accuracy issues, etc. Vols are definitely worried about the point spread coming down. Guy in my office came up to me at 8am sharp this morning and was asking me wildly why the point line shrank overnight. "Do you know what happened? I can't find any news? Why did that line move? They don't do that unless it's something huge!!!!" I offered that maybe the Vols little "team only" meeting on Sunday rattled Vegas a little, thus the line moving. I spoke to another Vol fan about 8 hours later, when I left for the day and first thing out of his mouth was, "Hey that line went down. Do you know why they moved it? What's the rumor?" They're obsessed with it because there's a cadre of fear in there somewhere. Stats like not winning in the Swamp since 2003 is something they hate because 1) stats are damning for them, 2) the Vols have become the "stat team." That is to say they're a team that's been pounded into dust so many times that everyone holds statistical streaks over them. Two keys to winning this game are: stopping Tennessee's receivers & Florida having a lot more rushing yards. Historically, 99.9% of the UT/UF winner was whichever team rushed more.
The Gators should expect the Tennessee D to put lots of pressure on Mertz and our running game. Gators need to be ready. Napier needs to be ready. Go Gators!
I was there for that one. Ran right into my end zone, haha! The decibel shift was nuts - wild when we got the first and then it suddenly just ratchets up when we realize the touchdown is happening. LOL There were a few Vol fans in front of our row who simply walked out and exited the stadium right afterwards as we all lost our minds. It was, as Mick Hubert said about us and The Swamp before, "an insane asylum".
Heh, in hindsight, I believe that was also the day I lost my favorite Gator scrunchie. We all just went so nuts, I ripped the ball cap off my head to wave it around like an idiot and that motion absolutely launched the scrunchie right off my ponytail. Never did find it. Considered it a worthy celebrational sacrifice in hindsight. LMBO
Exactly! I'm here in East Tennessee and their (normal) fear is obvious! Florida is so deep in UcheaT heads I swear if they could only win a single game each year it would be against us. I've had vollies say as much. PS -- I almost edited your post to properly read "UcheaT." LOL!
