12 pages and I still haven’t read where anyone hopes he fails.

I hope he makes 8 Pro Bowls, and gets a ring, over a 12 year career.

Sooo, can we stop with this stupid nonsense now?

The Tebow, Trask AR comparison is an example of how some people will choose to see what they want based on their own narrow minded biases.

Tebow was a vociferous and animated leader who had several dramatic moments on and off the field that endeared him to a fan base. The LSU and Tennessee games his freshman year. An 18 year old true freshman was put in key moments to literally tough out short yardage plays our backs and QBs weren't making. He had "the promise" and he came back his senior year. He also stayed clean off the field.

Trask was an overlooked 2 star that kept his mouth shut and just made plays when he got his chance. He saved our season in 19 and them when half his offense sat out for the bowl game he threw himself to the wolves with a depleted team and played anyway.

AR got hurt often. Other than Utah, he had no real signature moments on the field. The Kentucky game probably did the most damage not just because he played poorly but because he sulked and looked so defeated at the same time. That game went a long way towards creating doubt he could succeed at the NFL level until more consistency physically and mentally were shown. Even in his last game he was either on fire or ice cold against fsu. Then he sat out the bowl game while a guy like Gervon Dexter played. Gervon is a young father and had everything to lose playing in the bowl game and yet he played. The same Gator fans people claim shun AR for "other reasons" love Dexter. It's just a nonsensical inconguent argument in 2023.

AR has a great reputation as a person just like Trask and Tebow did and fans absolutely wanted him to live up to the hype but he fell short here. Some of that was poor timing with our overall program health and coaching situation but it wasn't because of prejudice.

Thanks for your posts (and Hawaii's also). It is a bizarre thread where it reminds me of the crazy haired UFO guy basically saying, over and over, "I am not saying it's Aliens, but...it's Aliens!"

I think one way to bridge a gap, if there is one, is what I have seen in the past regarding basketball players and UF fans. THE most egregious was against Dan Werner. He was a basketball player who played a position that we had some nice pieces in the past. What was his sin? He wasn't Cory Brewer, Chandler Parsons or David Lee. Oh, the HORROR!!!!

What I saw (and probably will see in the future) is a simple math exercise dressed up as griping. The reason why Werner got so much grief wasn't because he tanked games or didn't try up to his level of skill, but rather...we did not have any other pieces to play the wing or stretch 4 position effectively. It was what it was. But certain "fans" decided that that wasn't good enough. Dammit, we DESERVE better!

I think the majority of the AR "meh" of last year is another example. AR had some pretty limited outings (and no mistake, was a primary reason why we lost against Kentucky) and not enough "Utah WOW". And what was his sin? No one as Plan B at the QB position. NONE!

As I have posted plenty of times, all non-silly fans are rooting for any and all former UF players to succeed (it is called living vicariously) and AR is about at THE top of the hill. How is his success a pox on what we want to think about UF football? Why in the H__L does anyone not take the time and implicitly recognize that we were (and ARE) in a damn big hole due to whatever we want to call The Dumbo Experiment. I know I am opening up THAT can of worms again when we "compare" what Napier accomplished in his first year versus others'. But in the end, Napier IS building a system and he will NOT take shortcuts. And as a result, he WILL play a Dan Werner because that is what he has. A David Lee was NOT walking through that door. It IS what it IS folks!

That’s why I don’t block people no matter how much I disagree with them. If you ride it out you can sometimes learn what makes some people tick, and that can make it easier to understand and maybe even respect some of the crazy stuff they say. It can also validate some suspicions, like we saw last night. Some folks here have some serious issues to deal with.
