It will be interesting to see if they are finally able to come up with something, or if this is just McCarthy giving the far right something to keep them in line for the upcoming budget votes.

US House's McCarthy opens long-shot impeachment probe of Biden | Reuters

WASHINGTON, Sept 12 (Reuters) - Republican U.S. House Speaker Kevin McCarthy on Tuesday launched an impeachment inquiry into Joe Biden, propelling Congress toward a long-shot effort to remove the Democratic president following two impeachments of former President Donald Trump.

McCarthy's move sets the stage for months of divisive House of Representatives hearings that could distract from lawmakers' efforts to avoid a government shutdown and could supercharge the 2024 presidential race, in which Trump hopes to avenge his 2020 election loss to Biden and win back the White House.

Republicans, who now narrowly control the House, have accused Biden of profiting while he served as vice president from 2009 to 2017 from his son Hunter Biden's foreign business ventures. But a 2020 Senate investigation and several months of digging by House Republicans this year have failed to turn up evidence of wrongdoing by Biden.

"We will go where the evidence takes us," McCarthy said.

Oh. I thought they wanted to impeach him for being too old.

    Who is Hunter Biden?

House Pubs should present their evidence to the American people. If Joe committed high crimes and misdemeanors, bring the receipts.

The House is already a comic show. Just imagine a TV sitcom or reality show starring Matt Gaetz and Marjorie Taylor Greene. "Matt and Marjorie" would be the biggest hit since "I Love Lucy."

It's been established that impeachment is basically required for whatever party isn't in power no matter how little reason or evidence.

I guess it makes sense, why bother trying to fix anything (inevitable they'll mess up anyway and have it used against them next election cycle) when you can just deflect with this. "See, we're trying to stop biden/trump/bush/clinton/trump again.". God forbid that elected officials do their job and, you know, govern.

Trump has been meeting with the House nut jobs to orchestrate this.

Nance Mace said yesterday they need to do this inquiry to find something on Biden. Let that statement sink in a bit.

It’s somewhat similar to trump’s call to Zelensky. You don’t have to actually have evidence of wrongdoing just make the announcement you have an investigation going.
trump is coaching this gaggle of idiots.

Especially since the Senate has no power of impeachment, I agree.

The House has that power to start the process, and if they do and vote to impeach then it goes to the Senate for complete impeachment/removal.

Not having heard any evidence of high crimes and misdemeanors the Rs may have I most sincerely and intensely doubt this and I’m willing to back it up.
